Oh my God.” T hat is obedience exem plified. T ry it; teach it; live it. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) The tru e motive of obedience is love. (2 ) Submission to God’s will is b etter th an sacrifice. (3 ) More th an acknow ledgment of au th o rity is demanded; th ere must be obedience. (4 ) There m ust not only be th e h ear ing of His Word, bu t the working of His will. (5 ) If you fail in obedience, you will fail in fruit. (6) It is God’s will th a t you should be w illing to su rrend er your will. (7 ) Obedience to His command is an obligation incurred in confessing Him as Lord and Master. (8 ) A good motto for all believers: “Where He leads me I will follow: where He orders I will go.” (9) “T ru st and obey, for th e re ’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to tru st and obey.” The g reatest illu stration th is lesson could have is th e one Christ uses here, of the two foundations. There is one g reat universal law in all buildings— n a m e l y , th a t a LESSON stru ctu re must have ILLUSTRATIONS a solid foundation. W. H. P ik e Obedience to this 1 a w makes your building secure. Disobey th is law and th e whole stru c tu re ' falls, no m atter how well the edifice may be built. Thus Jesus said, “ Everyone therefo re th a t h eareth these words of mine and doeth them shall be likened unto a wise man.” Obedience is the first law in Spiritual building. The agent of a powerful and wealthy business house saw an opportunity by

source of all blessing. Every invention which has b rough t so much of com fort and help to th e world, has been made possible through obedience to the mechanical laws of God. Any and all violation of n a tu ra l laws brings dis a ster and distress. Lawlessness is disobedience to law. The world is up side down today because men refused to obey rig h tfu l laws. P aren ts are invested w ith au tho rity and are held accountable by God for failu re to exer cise righ tfu l rule. We have b u t little of fam ily life in th is land. Conse quently the seed of lawlessness is sown in th e home. “ Honor thy fath e r and m o ther” is God’s law, and when chil dren have no fath e r and m o th er whom they can honor, w h at w ill be the resu lt? “ Children, obey your paren ts in the Lord,” is the command to the church, b u t if p aren ts are indifferent to the word and au tho rity of God, how can children be ta u g h t to obey. As a resu lt of th is indifference to God’s Word and au th o rity we have the sp irit of anarchy. Obedience to law spells blessing. Here is a g rea t lesson for Christians, and it implies absolute su rrend er to th e Word and will of God. No piece of machinery can be run w ithout obedi ence to God’s mechanical laws. All of God’s laws are beneficial. If we would b u t recognize th is simple and all com prehensive fact and a d ju st ourselves to it, our lives would ru n smoothly, peace fully and fruitfully. We m ust know th e will of God th rough His Word. Therefore, read it, and when you know it, do it. When you do it, you have a house on a rock th a t nothing can move. Obedience is a g reat big sign word. The winds, and .the waves obey; th e sta rs move in obedience to God’s law. You tru s t yourself a thousand tim es to God’s wonderful laws of natu re. Don’t you th ink it would be well to tru s t His more wonderful sp iritu al laws? Jesus did, and said “ I delight to do thy will,
