FROM 30 TO 60 AND BEYOND Celebrating the People Behind Our Progress
MALLOY LAW OFFICES, LLC
Summer is always the midpoint of the year; it’s the perfect time to take a breath, reflect on where we started, and appreciate how far we’ve come. At Malloy Law Offices, these moments of reflection go beyond our achievements. It’s about recognizing the people and processes that have fueled our growth and made every milestone possible. When we first began sending out our newsletters a few years ago, our team was around 30 people. That was a big accomplishment — a solid group of dedicated legal professionals and support staff working hard to serve our clients across four offices. Fast forward to today, and that number has more than doubled. We’re now a team of over 60, and we’ve expanded to 11 offices in the DMV area. That kind of growth doesn’t happen overnight and certainly doesn’t happen without an incredible team and a shared vision.
in hindsight, that adaptation period became a foundation for innovation. We learned to operate remotely, strengthened our digital infrastructure, and embraced flexibility not just out of necessity, but because it made us better. Now, we find ourselves in a hybrid world. Whether a client prefers a virtual consultation or someone wants to sit across from us at one of our offices, we’re ready. The systems we’ve built allow us to meet people where they are — and that’s made all the difference in how we manage cases, collaborate as a team, and ultimately deliver results. Another exciting change has been our growing presence on social media. If you’ve spent any time online recently, chances are you’ve come across a video where we share insights, break down legal topics, or offer a glimpse into the human side of our work. These videos aren’t just marketing tools — they’re part of our mission to educate and empower our community. People learn in different ways, and we’ve prioritized adapting, meeting people where they are, and staying ahead of the curve in how we communicate. So, yes, we’ve grown in size, reach, and capability. But more than anything, we’ve grown together. Every team member has played a role in this journey, and every step forward is because of their hard work and dedication. As we look ahead to the rest of the year, I am so grateful for how far we’ve come. I’m grateful for the trust our clients place in us, our team’s resilience, and the opportunity to keep doing work that matters. Here’s to more growth and learning while we continue to serve our community with the same purpose and passion that brought us here in the first place.

But it’s not just about the numbers. What stands out is the transformation in how we work together. From the beginning, we’ve believed in the power of people, in building a culture that values professionalism, empathy, and a tireless commitment to client service. Over the years, that culture has only grown stronger. We’ve streamlined our processes, enhanced communication, and found new ways to serve our clients more efficiently. Of course, it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Like many others, we faced some challenges back in 2020 with COVID-19. Practically overnight, we had to pivot and transition from in-person meetings to a fully digital model. It was uncharted territory, but

EASILY ENJOY A PERFECT HOME HOLIDAY Your Staycation, Your Rules
Sometimes, the best escape is right under your nose. Planning a staycation in your local area can save you the hassle of long travel days and large expenses but also reveals hidden gems in your own backyard. Here are six ways you can turn your town into a fun staycation! Set your intentions. Start by deciding what kind of staycation vibes you’re aiming for. Is it relaxation with spa-like peace and quiet, or are you looking for adventure and exploration? Setting your intentions will help guide your activities and tailor your staycation to your desires. Treat yourself. Part of the joy of vacationing comes from stepping out of your routine and indulging a bit. Why should a staycation be any different? Book a massage at a local spa,
order takeout from that high-end restaurant you’ve always wanted to try or splurge on a fancy “hotel-style” breakfast in bed. Remember, it’s all about treating yourself! Visit a new place each day. Challenge yourself to visit new spots in your area. It could be a park you’ve never strolled through, a museum you’ve skipped, or an interesting shop you’ve passed but never entered. It’s fun to see how much you discover in places you can visit every day. Don’t judge yourself for not doing anything. If your most adventurous activity for a day is moving from your bed to your couch or hammock, that’s perfectly fine. Not every staycation day needs to be filled with activities. After all, the best memories can come from hanging out and enjoying the peace of your own space.
Be a tourist for the day. Grab a camera and see your city through the eyes of a tourist. You might discover typical tourist activities you’ve never done because you live there. It’s a fun way to engage with your surroundings differently. Remember, it’s your staycation. The best part of a staycation is that there are no rules. Sleep in, stay up late, eat dessert for breakfast, or wear pajamas all day. Do what makes you happy — after all, isn’t that what any great vacation is about?
THE
Nowadays, celebrities influence countless consumer decisions, from buying
book club called TeaTime last year, which is linked to her production company by the same name. The club aims to adapt book picks such as Maria-Helene Bertino’s “Beautyland” into TV shows and movies. Actress Emma Roberts’ book club, Belletrist, has produced two TV shows based on books she recommended, “First Kill” and “Tell Me Lies.” With her friend and co-organizer Karah Preiss, Roberts tends toward indie bookstore picks with an intellectual vibe, heavy on literary and historical fiction and memoirs. Pop star Dua Lipa calls her Service 95 platform a “cultural concierge” that includes shopping guides, travel ideas, and book picks. The singer has recommended a global potpourri of works to broaden readers’ perspectives, including Polish author Tomasz Jedrowski’s “Swimming in the Dark,” Korean-American author Michelle Zauner’s “Crying in H Mart,” and Argentine author Hernan Diaz’s Pulitzer Prize- winning novel “Trust.” Actress Emma Watson followed a different path when she launched Our Shared Shelf in 2016. The “Harry Potter” co-star’s choices tilt more toward political and personal causes, including Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” and “Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race” by Reni Eddo-Lodge. Whatever their motive, these stars deserve credit for endearing books to a much bigger audience. In an era when many talented authors have a hard time paying the rent, that can only be a good thing!
cosmetics to backing charities. However, few sectors have been more deeply affected than book publishing. Celebrities from Reese Witherspoon to Dua Lipa are triggering rising sales of an increasingly varied selection of books. Publishing industry sources credit their book clubs with creating closer reading communities and more adventurous book choices among millennial and Gen Z readers. Oprah’s Book Club kickstarted the trend in the 1990s, sparking millions of book sales with a single mention. In a recent shift, other celebrities are using their clout to fast-track book choices into TV adaptations. Reese Witherspoon, who rivals Oprah in her book-picking clout, turned Celeste Ng’s “Little Fires Everywhere” into a bestseller and a TV adaptation (starring herself). Actress and producer Dakota Johnson founded a

RIDE INTO SUMMER
Always protect your head. This might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people skip the helmet. For cyclists, a properly fitting helmet is the best way to prevent head injuries. DOT-approved helmets are essential for motorcyclists, and full-face helmets offer the most protection. Wear protective clothing. Motorcyclists and bicyclists should gear up, even in the heat. Lightweight, breathable armored jackets, and pants are available and designed for summer riding. Gloves, boots, and eye protection are also must-haves. For cyclists, gloves help with grip and protect your hands. Don’t forget to hydrate. Riding in the summer heat can dehydrate you quickly. Bring water, take breaks in the shade, and watch out for signs of heat exhaustion, such as dizziness, headache, or confusion. If you start feeling off, stop and cool down.
Know your route and stay alert. Familiarize yourself with your route, check the weather, and avoid roads under construction or heavily trafficked if possible. Always look for road hazards — gravel, potholes, oil slicks, or even debris can cause a wipeout. Don’t forget your maintenance. Before you head out, give your ride a quick check. For cyclists, that means tire pressure, brakes, and chain. For motorcyclists, it means checking your oil, tires, lights, and controls.
Tips to Stay Safe on 2 Wheels
Nothing beats a ride in the summer. Whether you’re cruising on a motorcycle or pedaling your favorite bike trail, warm weather and long days make the summer months the perfect time to get out and enjoy the open road (or path). But with extra sunshine and traffic comes an increased need to stay alert and safe. For cyclists and motorcyclists alike: Be visible! One of the biggest risks riders face is not being seen. It’s important to always assume drivers might not spot you. Wear bright, reflective clothing and keep your lights on — even during the day. A flashing rear light on a bicycle or a headlight on a motorcycle can make a world of difference.
Summer is a great time to ride — but only if you do it smart. Stay safe, stay seen, and enjoy the journey.
