From 1880 to 1924, Christ’s College, Wellington College and Whanganui Collegiate School played a triangular tournament. It was not until the entry of Nelson College in 1925 that the tournament became a quadrangular. The tournament was not played in 1942 and 1943, but in those years, Christ’s College played Nelson College, and Whanganui Collegiate School played Wellington College, and Nelson and Wellington were the winning teams both years.
