Holy Doors open for Jubilation Year
Celebrating the official presentation of the Holy Doors Quintet for the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario are Rev. Brian McNally (left), Trustee Nancy Kirby, Rev. Jacques Labelle, Rev. Julius Nwagbara, Rev. Rod McNeil, Rev. John Whyte, Archbishop Brendan OBrien, Education Director William J. Gartland, Chairman Brent Laton, Trustee Sue Wilson, Superintendent John Cameron, Superintendent Bonnie Norton, Superintendent Natalie Cameron, Superintendent Donaleen Hawes, and Vice- Chairman Todd Lalonde. The five doors represent both the five wards of the school district and are symbolic of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy declared by Pope Francis, which began Dec. 8 on the Holy Day of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The doors, symbolic of the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica, opened only during a Holy Year, are part of school district special event displays during 2016. — photo CDSBEO
