Avery Dennison Unveils RFID Label Recognized For PET Recycling Avery Dennison has reportedly introduced the first ra- dio-frequency identification (RFID) label to receive APR Design for Recyclability (DfR) recognition from the Associ- ation of Plastic Recyclers (APR). Avery Dennison has combined its proprietary Clean- Flake adhesive technology and materials science capa- bilities to introduce the technology that cleanly separates from the PET in the mechanical recycling stream, reducing contamination. Brands adopting this RFID technology, according to the company, can ensure compatibility for the recycling of their PET packaged items. According to Avery Dennison, the proprietary RFID label has the potential to streamline the plastic recycling process by uniquely identifying each item, increasing the quality of materials recovered and extending PET life use. In other news, Avery Dennison has launched its RFID-enabled In-Mold Label (IML) portfolio. This smart label range is reportedly designed to be embedded into plastic items during the injection molding process, offering high durability, excellent RFID performance, and support for circularity and reuse systems across multiple sectors. The IML range is built to meet the demands of modern reuse and tracking systems. Each RFID inlay is specially
designed to withstand the high heat and pressure of injec- tion molding. The labels work with standard in-mold labeling equip-
ment and materials. By supporting longer product lifes- pans and providing greater visibility across operations, the IML portfolio reportedly helps reduce waste and contrib- utes to more sustainable, closed-loop systems.
