During the spring, our family took a really fun trip in an RV up the coast all the way to the Canadian border! In east-central California, within Yellowstone National Park, we visited El Capitan (Spanish for “the captain”), a huge granite mountain that is 3,000 feet tall and over 7,500 feet above sea level! That’s two times as tall as the Empire State Building in New York and three times as tall as the Eiffel Tower in Paris! It’s also 1.5 miles wide! The coolest thing to us about El Capitan is that the walls of the mountain are all almost completely vertical — it almost looks like one big block when

you look at it. On our trip, we learned that there are these really brave people, called free solo climbers, who climb up El Capitan without any ropes, harnesses, or equipment to help them. They just use their hands and feet. That takes so much preparation and skill. We are both in awe of it and can’t imagine how scary and intimidating it must be. But free solo climbing would also be a really cool experience too — talk about conquering your fears! —Finn & Harlow

Ingredients

• 1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk • 1/2 cup margarita mix • 2 tbsp sugar, divided • 1 1/2 tsp lime zest, grated • 1 tbsp lime juice • 5 drops green food coloring (optional) • 1 8-oz carton frozen whipped topping • 1/3 cup finely crushed pretzels • 4 tsp butter, melted • Lime slices

1. Allow whipped topping to thaw. 2. In a medium-size bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, margarita mix, 1 tbsp of sugar, lime zest, and lime juice. Add food coloring, if desired. 3. Using a spoon or spatula, fold in the whipped topping. 4. Freeze mixture until firm, about 4–6 hours. 5. In a small bowl, combine pretzels, 1 tbsp of sugar, and butter. 6. Spoon the lime mixture into margarita glasses and add the pretzel topping. Serve with lime slices.
