Development Updates East Point Marketplace - A 45,000 sq. ft mixed-use development is underway on Main Street. Downtown Revitalization Grant - $1.2 million received from the State for infrastructure upgrades.

Southwest Green Townhomes - 38-unit residential community approved near Washington Road Proposals for two- multifamily house developments are under review. A new commercial corridor plan is in the early planning stages.

Meet the Team The people making the magic happen. . . As a city planner, I serve as the Director for the Planning and Community Development Department. I want people to know that we consider our role as a concierge of the build environment. We love being a part of the process that helps others’ dreams come true! ~ Kimberly Smith

As an engineer, I serve as the Assistant Director for the Planning and Community Development Department. I enjoy assisting residents and working alongside builders and developers. I want people to know that I enjoy and have a passion for serving others and providing expertise on land development projects. ~ Lee Kelley

Administrative Staff

As the office manager , it is important to provide administrative and clerical support to all of the Planning and Community Development team members to ensure smooth operations. I enjoy collaboration between the teams within our department and more importantly the creative problem solving that happens amongst team members. ~ Tondria Thompson As the head administrative assistant , I enjoy working alongside the four teams within the department. This allows me to learn new skills and develop an in-depth knowledge of planning, zoning, permits, and business licenses. With this knowledge, I am able to answer phone calls, help at the front counter, and assist with projects and problem solving. ~ Dianna Reid

As the project manager , my primary focus is alleviating pain points that the customers and members within the department have. Whether it’s a system issue or not being able to get in contact with someone, I am excited to be the liaison that facilitates solutions for customers and team

Business Licenses

As the business license coordinator , I enjoy assisting business owners with ensuring compliance with licensing laws and regulations before opening their business. It is so rewarding to see all their hard work pay off! I also enjoy the team of professionals that I work with because we all have the same drive to better the department and engage the community. ~ Tonya Miller

As the associate planner , I absolutely love working in the Planning and Community Development Department because of how passionate our team is! You can tell that each person loves what they do and are excited to do a great job every day.
