Frenetic Drawing
If you ever get a chance to see the band caravan palace, take it. They are a high voltage kinetic wonder to behold. They are a french band formed from a passion for electro-swing music. The music is a combination of daft punk and django reinhardt. Gone are the acoustic guitars replaced by electric everything. There is a qr code on this page that will give you a sampling of the band on stage. They are off the charts. Attempting to draw while the band was playing in the middle of this sound storm is daunting. I put my ear plugs in to soften it a touch then went to work making a few large drawings (16” x 14”) as fast as i could apply the ink. The location was the ogden theater in central denver on july 12, at 8 pm in 2017. It was a perfect-sized venue packed with people all jamming to the vibe. It was before the pandemic where it was normal to get together in large groups, too. I call this type of drawing, frenetic drawing because it is both wild and the results are uncontrolled. That is why they are so exciting, each one is unique and you never know what you’re going to end up with. Shoosty 2022
