Industry links are another focus, informing learning and career development opportunities at UBI, as Fornes highlights: “We have strong and deep links with many companies, not only here in Europe but also in Asia and America and they participate actively with us. “Some of them work with us in the design and development of our programmes, some of them participate in teaching and, of course, many of them receive our students to do internships, projects and different [kinds of] learning activities.”

“Augment” is the crucial term here, as Dalia Najjar, a BSc graduate and MSc student at the school elaborates. “We learn how we should apply human intelligence to our use of AI rather than relying on it to do our tasks and give us ideas, as well as why it should still be human intelligence that guides us throughout our academic journey.” Alongside this, the school emphasises the importance of helping students understand the role that technology will play in their future careers. “We want to prepare leaders who can create value through technology in areas of

ideas and implement new initiatives to ensure that the quality of the students’ experience, whether online or physical, is not compromised,” according to Yap. AUGMENTING CAPABILITIES WITH AI UBI Business School is an early adopter of artificial intelligence (AI), through its use of Alexandria, a large language model that is designed specifically for teaching and the support of learning. “The key objective we had was how we use technology to augment the capabilities of each particular student to personalise their knowledge and skills,” reflects Fornes.
