Learn how to design safe and effective group and private Mat Pilates class sessions. Deepen your understanding of cueing, anatomy and form. Prerequisites for this Mat Pilates instructor program include knowledge of basic anatomy and completion of 20 hours of Pilates classes prior to taking the Core Wellness course. The course includes 15 hours of in-person training and requires passing the Core Wellness Written and Practical exams (80%+) to receive a Certificate of Completion in order to sit for the NPCP Exam. National Mat Certification through NPCP requires completion of 25 hours of practice-teaching, 25 hours of observing, 35 hours of self-practicing, and 15 hours of attending the Core Wellness Pilates course and passing the exams for a total of 100 hours. Participants have up to one year from the end of the course date to apply for the NPCP Certification Exam. If participants miss a class, they need to make up the time. Private makeups are available at an additional fee of $120/hour. Please notify the instructor if a known conflict exists. Completion of the Core Wellness Mat Pilates Instructor Program does not guarantee an instructor position at the DCRC or certification. Participants are required to sign a contract and health waiver and should be in good physical health and condition. Must be 18 years or older to sit for the National Pilates Certification Exam. This low-impact class combines some cardio training with weight- bearing exercises designed to help you improve muscular strength and endurance, bone density, balance and flexibility. Finish the hour with core strengthening exercises and an excellent stretch for a complete and functional workout!

Gain strength using hand weights in fun and creative ways in this chair aerobic class. Core training, balance exercises and flexibility are also included in this well-rounded program designed with seniors in mind, but great for anyone ages 40 and up. All exercises are performed off the floor using a chair for strength exercises if needed.
