The Director of Student Services is a leading contributor to student health and wellbeing and the student experience at Keele. We are seeking an individual of high calibre with a track record of success and innovation in student service delivery. The University is looking to appoint an individual who can provide inspirational leadership and ensure the continuing success and strategic development of our student services.

Qualifications and Experience • Significant experience in a student services leadership role in a higher education setting. • A proven track record in successfully managing a multi-functional team in a large and complex organisation. • Proven ability to lead and manage professional staff and to cultivate a strong customer service culture. • A sound understanding of good practice in the delivery of student services and of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. • Evidence of successful delivery of initiatives to enhance student wellbeing and the student experience.

Skills and competencies • Strategic vision: the ability to develop and implement appropriate strategy, and to keep on top of daily demands whilst pursuing a long- term vision. • Leadership and management skills: the ability to build consensus and deliver change, and to motivate, develop and direct a high- performing team. • Influencing and networking skills: the ability to build credibility and develop productive working relationships with academic staff, students, fellow professionals and external partners. • Project management skills: the ability to define requirements, monitor and evaluate progress, make timely and relevant interventions and deliver expected benefits. • Financial management skills, including a strong commitment to providing value for money and the ability to operate effectively within fixed resource constraints. • Political acumen: an understanding of the importance of diplomacy, tact and sensitivity to the culture of a large and well- established organisation. • Excellent and persuasive written and presentation skills. • Well-developed decision-making and problem solving skills. • An ability to think creatively and innovatively, and to inspire innovation in others. • A clear commitment to equality and diversity, and evidence of delivering this in practice.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate evidence of the following skills and competencies:

• A relevant postgraduate qualification or an equivalent track record of senior professional development.
