Improving yourself isn’t something that can happen overnight — new habits take time to establish. Finding ways to improve your life physically and mentally can increase productivity, improve your mental health, and even heal relationships. Since this month is National Self-Improvement Month, here are three self-improvement activities you can do to improve your quality of life.

3. Surround yourself with people who want the best for you. The people you interact with daily can affect your behavior and state of mind, whether you notice it or not. Look at the people you surround yourself with — do they want the best for you? Do they have a positive or negative attitude about life? If you’re around people who have a negative outlook, you may find yourself becoming negative. The people you engage with should align with who you want to be. Self-improvement is something that takes time. However, you can always find something to improve on, so this is a never-ending goal. Never give up and constantly look for ways you can enhance your life and strengthen your physical and mental well-being. You’re doing a great job so far!

Ingredients

• 2 tbsp olive oil • 1 onion, chopped • 2 garlic cloves, minced • 3 carrots, sliced • 3 celery ribs, sliced • 2 chicken bouillon cubes • 1/2 tsp dried parsley

• 1/4 tsp pepper • 4 cups chicken broth • 4 cups water • 1 1/4 lbs bone-in, skinless chicken thighs • 1 cup uncooked white rice • Salt, to taste

Directions

1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 5 minutes. Add the carrots and celery, then sauté for 1 more minute. 2. Add the bouillon, parsley, pepper, chicken broth, and water. Stir, then add the chicken thighs. 3. Cover and simmer on medium-low for 30 minutes, then add the rice. Stir, cover, and simmer for 15 more minutes. 4. Remove the pot from the heat and transfer the chicken to a large bowl. Shred the meat and add it back to the soup. Discard the bones. 5. Stir, salt, and serve!
