THE DURHAM FIND OF HISTORIC BASEBALL PHOTOGRAPHY L ove of the Game Auctions is proud to present The Durham Find of Historic Baseball Photography. A significant trove
of Type I photographs representing the game’s most influential figures across four decades of our National Pastime from the 1920’s-50’s. Incredibly, this fresh to the hobby collection came to our consignors as part of an inheritance, untouched for many decades before we visited their home just as Hurricane Helene ominously approached the Carolinas. Our 2024 Fall Premier Auction features the first carefully curated portion of the Durham Find, with additional material on the way in future offerings from Love of the Game. Upon review of the individual photos contained within this assortment, Principal Authenticator for PSA Photo Authentication Services, Henry Yee remarked “This extraordinary group of baseball photographs is among the finest we have come across in the last several years,” adding, “Several are unique and are the only known Type I specimens to have surfaced in the hobby to date.” The Durham Find represents a unique opportunity for admirers of vintage baseball photography to add outstanding and previously unknown original examples to their collections. We do hope you’ll take advantage of this special event and invite all of our bidders to enjoy the historic images contained within these pages.
