City Councillor, Jim Herbert by Peri Hayes Throughout his career, Jim Herbert spent most of his time as an X-ray technologist. Having worked at Victoria Hospital in London and Seaforth Community Hospital, as well as spending close to 20 years managing at the St. Thomas- Elgin General Hospital (STEGH), Jim concluded his career as the Manager of Imaging at Strathroy Community Hospital. He shares that his work experience in Operating and Capital budgets has continued to be a valuable skill set upon his election to City Council. Jim has held various board positions over the years, including the following: Past President of the YMCA; Past President of the St. Thomas Curling Club; Past Chair of St. Thomas Energy Inc. — now Entegrus — and on the Board of Directors for Softball Ontario, as well as the Advisory Board for Radiology Students at Fanshawe College in London. Currently in his second term as a City Councillor, Jim has been appointed to Community Improvement (CIP), the Board of Management - Elgin Area Primary Water Supply System, Board of Management Valleyview Home, Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA) and Southwestern Public Health (SWPH), as well as being an alternate for the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre. “For my first term, I was very proud to be appointed to the St. Thomas Police Service Board and was fortunate to experience two ride-alongs -- one morning and one evening, which were quite an eye opener for me.
