Christmas Market Brings Holiday Cheer to The Putting Zoo The Putting Zoo at 79 Elm Street is getting into the holiday spirit this December with its first-ever Christmas Market, transforming the popular mini-putt course inside Pinafore Park into a winter wonderland. Owner, Vyvyan Campbell, says the event will be a celebration of the season with something for everyone to enjoy. “We’re working with STEGH because it’s going to be a bit of a fundraiser for the hospital as well,” she says. “We’ll be selling live Christmas trees, and we’ll have a heated tent for people who want to sell crafts and other handmade items.” The market will also feature a special guest straight from the North Pole. “We’re going to have a Santa cabin,” she says. “He’s got a brand-new red cabin, and Santa will be there so parents can bring their children for photos.” The festive fun doesn’t stop there. Visitors can test their putting skills in a mini-putt contest on the first hole for a chance to win prizes. There will also be live music and dazzling lights throughout the park. “That great big, enormous tree on our site -- it’s probably 50 or 60 feet high -- is being all decorated,” says Vyvyan. “The lighting is going to be absolutely amazing.” The Christmas Market will open on December 6 and 7, then again on December 13 and 14, before running daily from December 18th right up to December 23rd. Hours are 4 pm to 9 pm, with Santa greeting families in his cabin each day from 4 pm to 7 pm. There’s no entry fee to attend the market, and even vendors are being given a warm welcome. “We’re not charging people this
year to have a table in the heated tent,” Vyvyan explains. “We’re just asking for donations since it’s our first year. Hopefully, next year it will grow, and we’ll do something extra again.” As they explore the site, guests can also enjoy hot chocolate and coffee, making it the perfect outing for anyone looking to get into the Christmas spirit. “It’s an outdoor event, so you’ll want to bundle up,” says Vyvyan with a laugh. “But that’s all part of the fun; you need a little bit of cold to really feel the Christmas magic.”
