always said that I would find a way to visit her, and this was actually my first time on a plane. I felt like that is where I was supposed to be.” In this triathlon with over 50 countries represented, Lisa felt honoured to participate in the Parade of Nations and celebrate such unity. “The spectators and the atmosphere were all so encouraging. This is an individual sport, though the community behind me is huge. Everyone has been a beginner, and I have made many friends through triathlon.”

Lisa looks forward to the Railway City Road Races, as this St. Thomas-based event continues to grow each year. Furthermore on Lisa’s agenda, she and Elke will be competing in Challenge Roth — Lisa’s first full-distance Ironman — for which the pair competed at Challenge Esprit Montréal and were selected by lottery to compete in Germany this July on a global scale. The local Caps Off Run Club has played an impactful role in Lisa’s world: “Fran and Rick have been so collaborative.”

Beaming about her experience, Lisa will bring her children along in their double jogging stroller while sharing the important lesson that one’s value is not dependent on winning. Consequently, Lisa’s eldest eagerly ran her first race this year at Rosy Rhubarb Festival. Ultimately, Lisa expresses her gratitude for the support of her loved ones -- with special mention of her husband uplifting her as she embarks on her admirable ventures. Moving forward, Lisa is scheduled to participate as a vendor at the Horton Farmers’ Market each Saturday until April 25th.
