LOCAL ARTIST PROFILE
Kimberley Howcroft by Peri Hayes Residing locally for several years, Kimberley Howcroft has been an artist for as long as she can remember: “I come from a very artsy family. My mom is a singer-songwriter; my dad is a photographer and musician; my brother is a chef and my sister owns a dance studio in the UK.” Meanwhile, Kimberley is a fine artist and potter, whose work “Captures the whimsy and magic of life,” as she delightedly details. As well as a wife and mother, Kimberley describes herself to be a ‘kitchen table artist’: “I create my art in the place where I create meals, memories and love.” Kimberley recounts living in Alberta during the wildfires; her dear friend thoughtfully gifting her a watercolour kit: “I saw the hues spill out on the page and I was hooked.” The Northern Lights, night sky and the colours of the snow are all fond memories of their time residing in Alberta -- a visible inspiration in a selection of Kimberley’s work. “I am honing my focus on aura and home portraits, bringing life-force energy to my work.” Children and pet portraits are also included in Kimberley’s commission work, who brings vibrant colours to her youthful depictions. Art has taught Kimberley how to keep her heart and her mind open. Connected to Spirit since childhood, Kimberley voices, “Channeling emotion into creation allows me to take my healing arts to the next level.
