Le conseil municipal de Clarence- Rockland tiendra une réunion spéciale, le 27 août, afin de nommer un nouveau maire pour la ville. Depuis le décès de Guy Desjardins il y a deux mois, le conseiller Michel Levert a agi comme maire intérimaire de la municipalité jusqu’à ce que l’administration de la ville puisse fournir au conseil des recomman- dations pour régler la question du siège vacant du maire. Le conseil a examiné le rapport lors de sa séance du 23 août et a choisi l’option 1 pour doter la Cité de Clarence-Rockland d’un maire à temps plein jusqu’aux élections municipales de l’année prochaine. Le conseil tiendra une réunion spéciale, le 27 août, pour nommer l’un des conseil- lers actuels au poste de maire jusqu’aux élections de l’an prochain. Les conseillers qui souhaitent être considérés pour le poste doivent donner un avis écrit au greffier muni- cipal avant midi, jeudi. La nomination du nouveau maire par
acclamation ou par vote dépendra du nombre de conseillers qui exprimeront leur intérêt pour ce poste. Le nouveau maire élu sera assermenté lors de la première séance ordinaire du conseil en septembre.
