Happy New Year! It’s pretty incredible that it’s 2020, isn’t it? It marks a new year and a new decade. Going into a new year, many of us have resolved to get into better shape and pursue healthier lifestyles. Improving your health is an awesome goal, and now it’s time to jump in and keep up your momentum! Personally, I didn’t do as well in 2019 as I would have liked, but I’m determined to do better in 2020. Besides a new decade, this year brings another big milestone for me: I turn 50. I want to be a rockin’ 50 year old,

and to do that, I know I need to be more consistent in the weight room. I’m not trying to bulk up or anything; I just want to build my strength. I run a lot, but I need to add more strength training to build my muscles and stave off some of the mobility issues that can come with age. build strength. If you're keeping your muscles toned and strong, it gives your joints a break, lowers your risk for arthritis, and keeps your metabolism up. Maintaining a lean body mass as far as proportion of muscle compared to fat is one of the best ways to stay healthy, and strength training is one of the best ways to do it. In addition to spending more time in the weight room, I’m also committing to spending less time on my phone. I want to be more present with my family this year. When I hang out with my family at home, I often look around and see all of us on our phones rather than engaging with each other. There’s only so much time outside of work and school, and I’d rather spend it The great thing is that, no matter how old you are, you can always

hearing about my wife’s and kid’s day than replying to an email.

I also want to get outside and camp more this year, which I wasn’t so good at last year. I don’t care much where we go, as long as I can get outside and have a couple days in nature.

With these goals in mind, it sounds like it’s going to be a great year.

What are your resolutions for 2020? Whether they’re related to your health, career, family, or personal interests (or maybe all four), I encourage you to let your friends and family in on your goals.
