her team often create together by video conference to foster camaraderie and maximize creativity. “It’s easier to orient yourself around your goals if you can visualize them in front of you,” she explains. “If you don’t have things you want to run away from, then focus on the things you want to run toward, such as taking your family on vacation or becoming debt-free.” According to Laura, everyone can benefit from The Wellness Company, so she doesn’t discriminate when she shares Melaleuca’s products and the business opportunity. “Never write someone off because you think they don’t need what we have here,” she says. “A lot of people aren’t open about their struggles (I know I wasn’t), so just assume that everyone has a need for healthier products or extra income.” And if you’re worried about alienating friends and family by sharing your enthusiasm for Melaleuca products? Laura’s advice is to acknowledge your fears without letting them control you. “You have to put what other people think of you out of your mind,” she says. “If I had let those worries hold me back, I would never have changed my life.” Melaleuca has been Laura’s lifeboat—one that she hopes to pull as many people into as possible. “For me, it was really awesome to join a company that allowed me to buy healthier products and earn extra money at a time when I was really struggling financially,” Laura says. “And I feel like anyone can do what we do here! It doesn’t take special skills; it simply takes a lot of grit.”

It hasn’t been easy leaving a controlling relationship, gaining financial independence, and building an Executive Director business. Now that Laura Muhl has scaled those mountains, she’s focused on helping others grow both personally and professionally. “I’ve accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish for my own life,” she says, “so my new drive is finding team members who have a really great why and helping those people make their dreams a reality.” Focusing on what motivates each individual member of her team allows Laura to help them on a much deeper level. “Having kindness and compassion for other people is so important in this business,” she explains. “We’re interacting with a huge number of individuals—and they all have their own unique personalities, perspectives, and personal struggles.” But what if someone doesn’t have a strong purpose for building their Melaleuca business? In that case, Laura helps them pinpoint their why through the use of dream boards, which she and
