Stepping foot into Saadiyat Cultural District, one of the most significant concentrations of cultural institutions located on Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island, BARNES were privileged to be invited to a private preview of Louvre Abu Dhabi to discover the universal creativity of humankind and stand in awe of the museum's growing collection of the world's most important artefacts and artworks. Through its innovative curatorial approach, Louvre Abu Dhabi focuses on building understanding across cultures through stories of human creativity that have transcended civilisations, geographies, and times. Promoting a diverse global cultural landscape whilst supporting the Middle East's heritage, the Louvre Abu Dhabi regularly refreshes its collections with hand- picked pieces from the Louvre in Paris, showcasing and sharing vital world history with the Middle East. Created by an exceptional agreement between the governments of Abu Dhabi and France, the architectural wonder of Louvre Abu Dhabi opened its doors in November 2017, inviting audiences to see humanity in a new light. Inspired by traditional Islamic architecture and designed by world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel, its

now-iconic dome creates a rain of light effect, a cultural attraction in itself, making a statement on Saadiyat Island's skyline amongst Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abrahamic Family House and the soon-to-open Zayed National Museum, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi. With a constantly growing collection spanning thousands of years of human history, including prehistoric tools, religious texts, iconic paintings, and contemporary artworks, the permanent collection is supplemented by rotating loans from 19 French partner institutions and regional and international museums. Highlighting new stories of cross-cultural connections whilst on our tour, this year, Louvre Abu Dhabi unveiled significant new loans and acquisitions in its galleries, many on view for the first time in the region. To continually uncover the history of human creativity and curate a diverse and expansive collection, Louvre Abu Dhabi's new acquisitions include Gold and Silver inlaid Brass Candlestick from Iraq, Mosul from 1275, a piece that showcases intricate craftsmanship and
