Fifty years ago in 1974, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum (may his soul rest in peace), generously gifted a parcel of land to a small yet growing collective of sailing enthusiasts on the quiet shoreline of Jumeirah. Starting with a small clubhouse, hard standing boat storage, a launch ramp and a barasti-covered terrace, today, the inclusive, non-profit Dubai Offshore Sailing Club, affectionately known as DOSC, boasts over 2,000 members, a 152-berth marina, a bustling social clubhouse and, notably, an exceptional and tight-knit, family-like community forged through both friendly and fierce competition on the Gulf waters.

Now a popular institution for local and expat sea-seekers and synonymous with hardy dedication and commitment to the UAE's maritime heritage, DOSC has celebrated its Golden Jubilee by inviting DOSC members, supporters, and sailing enthusiasts to commemorate the significant milestone with a series of events, including regattas and sailing races themed parties and special ceremonies, alongside the popular annual sailing tournaments, the Dubai
Duty Free SB20 Championships and the Dubai to Muscat race.
Of the celebrations, DOSC’s Governance Director, Hamad Al Mutawaa, says, “Sailing has been integral to the history of Dubai and the UAE.
