ENTON TOWNSHIP, PA — National award- winning manufacturer Crystal Window & Door Systems announced that production of aluminum win- dows and patio doors is well underway at its expansive new 336,500 s/f northeastern Pennsylvania facility. Since its acquisition in October 2015, a mere four months ago, the company has fast-tracked renovation and outfitting with production equipment a 60,000 s/f portion of the build- ing. The facility is producing the Crystal Series 2000 alu- minum double-hung, slider and picture windows and the Series 1240 and 1280 alumi- num sliding patio doors. An official grand opening event is planned for this spring. "Bringing this factory on- line so quickly is an amaz- ing feat and a tremendous benefit for all involved," said Steve Chen , Crystal Win- dows' Chief Operating Officer (COO). "Crystal's window and door customers benefit through shortened lead times, the company benefits with expanded, yet integrated pro- duction capacity, the local labor force benefits with new employment opportunities, and a wide variety of north- eastern Pennsylvania busi- nesses benefit by supplying us with the services, materials, equipment and products we need to revamp and operate a facility of this scale." As expected, the Crystal expansion is proving to be an economic boon for the region. Of the 26 employees currently working at the factory, 24 are from the local area. As it continues to ramp up opera- tions over the coming years, the facility has the potential to employ 300 to 350 workers. Based on a tally by the company, well over 30 local northeastern Pennsylvania businesses have benefitted from Crystal's presence in the region. Renovating, outfitting and supplying the facility has generated significant new busi- ness for many companies. The recently renovated pro- duction space represents the first of several phases of reha- bilitation and outfitting envi- sioned over the coming years. Plans call for the facility's window and door production capabilities to replicate that of Crystal's New York City facili- ty as well as related glass, vinyl and aluminum operations. n B
