System in accordance with ISO14001 accreditation, including reviewing the approach and recommending improvements. • Lead on developing sustainable specifications for projects, focusing on life cycle carbon and pollution related to construction projects (e.g. VOCs). Leading on researching sustainable specifications and providing recommendations to the wider Estates Teams. • Lead on sustainability performance reporting, analysing complex concepts and developing methodologies. Create programme/project road maps and report regularly on progress and strategies to improve performance. • Lead on the sustainability aspects of the maintenance and management of the property portfolio • Manage priorities for sustainability activities and associated cross-functional projects, allocating resources and delegating tasks to support the strategic needs of the service. • Facilitate meetings, visits, conferences and committees, through preparation of sustainability reports and presentations. Additional duties for senior appointments • You may be required to work such additional/ different hours as may from time to time be necessary for the proper and efficient discharge of duties which may include evenings, Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays. • You may be required to regularly travel to other sites and internationally as necessary.

Purpose of Role The Head of Estates Sustainability will play an instrumental role in supporting UAL to fulfil our net zero and social purpose ambitions. Working closely with UAL’s Energy Manager (who leads on our net zero strategy for energy) and the Estate’s Sustainability Team, led by the Associate Director Estates Sustainability, the Head of Estates Sustainability will lead on UAL reaching its objectives focusing on waste, materials circularity and specifications, transport and construction and minor works projects sustainability. Key duties and responsibilities • Lead the development and delivery of the University’s strategic approach to sustainability, provide expert advice and guidance on sustainability activity to the university Estate’s team and the Net Zero Strategy Board. • Lead on the approaches to materials circularity across UAL, focusing on Estates sustainability. • Develop, review and maintain sustainability policy including the University’s Environmental Policy, Sustainable Food policy, Travel policies and plans, Waste & Recycling , Construction and Refurbishment policies and any other relevant policies. • Lead on UAL’s existing Environmental Management
