The historic Normal School ballroom was the perfect venue for the 2025 Old South Business Awards, presented by TD Bank, and thanks to the Wortley YMCA for the use of their space. Every nominee deserves recognition for their meaningful contributions to the community, along with so many other valued businesses that serve our area. This year’s Old South Business Excellence Award was presented to Dave Tuckey and Tuckey’s Home Hardware, not only for offering exceptional service and hardware since 1946, but also for their incredible support of community events, charities, sponsorships, ticket sales, and enthusiastic community involvement. Nicole Phillips, President of the Old South Community Or- ganization (OSCO), was honoured with the Local Champion Award for her outstanding leadership, compassion, and un- wavering presence in the community. She continues to guide OSCO with integrity, heart, and action, advocating for both residents and local businesses. Lastly, Al and Karen Stewart of Westland Gallery received the People’s Choice Award, voted on by both residents and local business owners. The gallery, located at 156 Wortley Road, and known as an Old South gem, is where Westland Brothers Paint & Wallpaper opened in 1886.
