We have students from 75 different schools and universities, including from six United World Colleges, Aiglon College, Lakeside School, The Taft School, Wesley- an University, University of Virginia, St. Pauls School, and Peking University. Above all, they are students with a dream—and the courage to pursue it (all over the world).

OUR STUDENTS are our raison d’etre . Since opening our application last year, we’ve had the privilege of reading hundreds of applications from all corners of the world— bold, adventurous, forward-looking stu- dents whose desire to see and understand the world was palpable and inspiring. Their essays were personal and creative; their videos gave us a glimpse into their world and their voice; and their interviews were fascinating and heart-warming. To join our 2024–2025 class, over 1,100 students started applications to be Baret Scholars, and more than 400 com- pleted their applications. We selected 102 students to be part of our inaugural class of Baret Scholars. They come from 41 countries, and many deferred their admission to be a Baret Scholar. Many deferred their admission to college to be a Baret Scholar. Some are cur- rent students at university and have chosen to be a Baret Scholar for a year before re- suming their studies. The class ranges in age from 17 to 22; the average age of the class is 19. We have a healthy mix of gen- ders with 37% identifying as male, 60% as female, and 3% as other. Their interests range from entrepreneurism to ecosys- tems, from politics to professional sports.
