Later, they encounter the work of Isaac Julien through his groundbreaking film Young Soul Rebels and discuss the lens he brought to Britain and British art. We will walk from the Tate Britain to the Tate Modern, discuss new architectural forms, the conversion of Battersea Power Station, and witness the change in art and architecture from the sixties to the nineties. Through a day at The Saatchi Gallery, we will understand how Charles Saatchi, an advertising madman, created a new art movement by shocking the Brits. We will be in conversation with the liminal space between advertising and art through iconic pieces, artists, journalists, and academics. It’s a day of many perspectives; suitable for the study of Saatchi, Sensation, and the crystallization of the Young British Artist movement. THE CREATIVE COOL BRITANNIA

How Britannia became cool again (and has the hype faded?): What it takes to become a global cultural icon. OVERVIEW: This fellowship is for the creators of the world who want to know first-hand how an artistic system gets created on a national level and manages to reposition a city on the global cultural map. By meeting key players in the formation of Britain’s nineties movement, Cool Britannia , our scholars will learn how even the UK needed rebranding and succeeded— for a while. This 10-day intensive fellowship brings together emerging leaders in the arts and creative industries to explore the dynamic transformation of Britain’s cultural landscape from the Cool Britannia era to its present-day influence on London’s art scene. The curriculum is designed to

foster a deep understanding of the role of art in societal change, offering participants exclusive access to iconic institutions, workshops for personal artistic development, and dialogues with influential figures in the art world.
