The New Year kicked off in style at ORPS, with Lifestyles and owners hosting a variety of events that were thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. As the winter season gets underway, there is a noticeable increase in activity as more people return to the resort. The golf tee sheets are filling up, the pickleball and tennis courts are buzzing with energy, and the pool decks are bustling with residents and guests soaking up the warm sunshine. Committees, clubs, and classes are now in full swing, offering a wide range of opportunities for owners and renters to enjoy all the season has to offer. The unseasonably warm, summer - like weather over the past month was an added bonus for those who spent the holiday season here at ORPS. As the calendar fills with events and activities, I ’ d like to remind owners and renters about the many volunteer opportunities that contribute to making ORPS such a vibrant and enjoyable community. Our sports committees have planned several exciting tournaments and are in need of volunteers to assist with setup, organization, and teardown. With CanAm Week just around the corner, there will be even more opportunities to get involved and help make the event a success. I ’ m personally looking forward to seeing Canada claim the top spot at CanAm 2025! Additionally, the Lifestyles team has prepared a full calendar of entertainment and dining events that require the support of dedicated volunteers. These contributions are vital to ensuring the success of our weekly gatherings and fostering a sense of community. Finally, the ORPS election season for 2025 is officially underway, with three candidates running for two available positions on the Board. Ballots will be sent to your ORPS address in mid - February. If you won ’ t be at ORPS during that time, please contact the front office to arrange for your ballot to be sent to an alternate address. Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute to the success and vibrancy of ORPS. Here ’ s to a fantastic season ahead!

15 AEDs STRATEGICALLY LOCATED AT ORPS! Here ’ s where they are:

This month ’ s report focuses on several positive events that occurred during the month of January. First of all a HUGE shout - out to the A&A team. We have been challenged over the past few seasons to approve permits in a timely fashion as well as clean - up the backlog of permits that needed to be FINALED. Thanks to the efforts of the entire committee I am happy and proud to say that the FINAL backlog has been completely cleared off the books. And over the past several months we have been able to process new permits within several weeks of acceptance by the A&A Coordinator. So if you see folks in a blue vest please thank these volunteers for their hard work. Secondly at the January Board Meeting a rule change was approved that owners will now be able to use Ficus as hedge material in the Resort (subject to the use of weed barrier to prevent root damage). It was apparent that the Ficus hedges in the Resort had a better survival rate this past summer when the valley experienced record heat. Finally as a reminder if you are contemplating any maintenance or improvements to your lot (and in some cases your RV) the first step is to determine if you need a permit before starting any work on your lot. NO WORK CAN START PRIOR TO A&A COMMITTEE APPROVAL OF YOUR PERMIT . Please contact Julia, our A&A Coordinator, for assistance with your Permit application or to request a consultation with members of the A&A Committee. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact us. Thanks to everyone for your efforts to keep ORPS the beautiful Resort we all love and enjoy!

• One at each Satellite Pool – on the outside wall, near the men ’ s or women ’ s room door • Two at each Clubhouse, one by the pool, one just inside the poolside doors • One on the west outside wall of the Golf Shack • One portable AED for the Security Staff Carts • One inside the front door of the Main Office • One inside the Main Laundry, next to the card payment machine • One inside the Fitness Center AED is an acronym for Automated External Defibrillator, a portable medical device that automatically analyzes an abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmia) of a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victim and delivers a shock of controlled electricity to restore an effective rhythm. AEDs are portable, lightweight, and easy to use. They are a critical lifesaving solution available for SCA victims. Spoken prompts and visual displays guide the user step by step through the lifesaving process of defibrillation. You do not need any special skills or prior training to use an AED. When administered within the first three to five minutes after SCA strikes, AEDs can significantly improve the rate of survival for SCA victims. The use of an AED should always be in conjunction with a call to 911 and the ORPS security staff at 760 - 770 - 0065. The AEDs at ORPS are serviced monthly by an outside vendor to ensure they are always in good working condition. Recommendation – please consider downloading the AED Locator phone app, PulsePoint AED, which will show you the nearest AED in the resort and most anywhere throughout North America. You never know when a cardiac arrest emergency may arise. Monthly AED familiarization classes have been offered within ORPS during prior seasons with most classes reaching maximum capacity. There is an ongoing search for instructors who are available to provide additional low cost or “ no cost ” classes in the future. Stay tuned for more information. Meanwhile, stop by any of the locations mentioned above and take notice of these potentially lifesaving devices! Steve Stockman—Safety & Security Chair

I am writing to express my sincere interest in serving on the Board of Directors for Outdoor Resorts Palm Springs. With 30 years of experience in the Real Estate Industry and a deep commitment to our

community, I am confident in my ability to contribute positively to the boards efforts in making this resort truly Five Star. My husband and I call ORPS our Winter home. The Immediate sense of belonging and the beauty of the resort affirmed our decision to be here. Since being at ORPS I have actively engaged with the community in various committees and events which has deepened my understanding of our resident's needs and aspirations. My professional journey began with Pacific NW Bell and AT&T Communications. Transitioning into Real Estate I have dedicated my tenure assisting clients in finding their ideal home, honing my skills in listening, negotiation and client needs. My leadership roles include serving on the local Board of Realtors for 12 years, holding positions such as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President twice. I was a Board of Director and Committee Spokesperson for the Oregon State Board of Realtors and trained mediator. I also had a strong commitment to community service, especially working with homeless families in transitioning them off the streets and back into the workforce with an 85% success rate. At ORPS I have immersed myself in community activities, serving on the Planning Committee, the restaurant Ad Hoc committee, participation with FMCA and leading the initiative to address concerns with the C4 Cannabis odor issue. These experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of our community's strengths and challenges. Finally, I firmly believe in the importance or transparency as well as open communication between the board and the residents within the guidelines and by - laws. I am committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration, ensuring that decisions reflect the collective interest of our wonderful community.

What a January, the grass is growing, the birdies are flying, and even some holes in one are falling. We had a very fun fill String Tournament on January 11th, and we hope that you were one of the lucky ones that got to enjoy it, if not, more to follow. We had our January Nine and Wine, and it looked like people were having a lot of fun. Starting at 3pm gave everyone plenty of time to socialize and play some golf. As a safety note please remember to stand on the away side of the tee box from the green that you just played, this is to avoid stray balls as much as possible. Safety begins with you.

What to look for in February

February is a short month, but the days are growing longer, and the weather should be getting warmer. There's no better way to spend your time but on the course! On top of our Tuesday Scrambles and Thursday Best Ball Tournaments, this month we have a variety of tournaments including The Sweetheart, Nine & Wine, Hole in One, and Day one of the Can/Am. Whether you're a seasoned golfer, or new to the game, we encourage you to join in the fun on the course! And a friendly reminder, tournament shout guns start at 8:30am. Feel free to stop by the starter shack to get set up for booking tee - times and inputting your scores for your handicap.

As the days are getting longer this will give us all more time to play later in the days. Take advantage of later tee time and the way the setting sun shows you the subtle brakes of the greens with its shadows. This February will have not only Tuesday and Thursday tournaments, but on the 14th and 15th will be the Sweetheart Tournament with awards and a light lunch after Saturdays a.m. play at 2pm. We have the Hole in One tournament on the 22nd and then CanAm Golf starting on the 28th and finishing up on March 1st.

More from your Golf Committee

Marshaling has begun and you will see them out and about making your golfing as fun as possible by monitoring play, checking carts and a smiling face. Check your own pace of play with this simple trick. Whatever time you tee off on the number one tee box, you should be at the number 9 tee box one hour later and the number 17 tee box one hour after that. Your Golf Committee is working hard to give every golfer fun and challenging tournaments for every level of player and are also looking into new and exciting types of golf tournaments allowing all skill levels to play against each other. Tee it up, line it up and keep - up, so we all can enjoy the greatest par three in town. John Mullins - Golf Committee Secretary/ Treasurer

Welcome to Health & Fitness!

In January, our committee hosted a Health & Fitness seminar featuring our very own Kathy Barnard and her “ Save Your Skin Foundation ”. Kathy gave an informative presentation about the importance of protecting your skin from the sun. Kathy was diagnosed with stage IV malignant melanoma, the cancer spread to her vital organs and at that time her treatment options were very limited. Her “ comeback ” story is because her son discovered a trial treatment paired with Kathy ’ s will to fight this disease head on. Kathy advocates for people who are dealing with cancer. She founded “ Save Your Skin Foundation ”, a multi - national patient - led, non - profit organization. One of our attendees, Kevin St. Clair stated, “ It was an articulate, heartfelt presentation by a cancer survivor. The foundation that Kathy has created and fostered is truly impressive in its accomplishments and goals. ” H&F is focused on bringing new and interesting activities and raising funds to keep our community active and healthy. It is said that “ laughter is the best medicine ”. With that in mind, what ’ s more fun than watching people giggle, laugh and move like “ silly teenagers ”? If you attended the first Silent Disco at ORPS, you would have seen “ grown ups ” enjoying themselves with a bit of their inner teen on display. Imagine the dance floor with some dancers moving fast paced and really grooving while others were slowly swaying! Many participants commented on how they enjoyed being able to socialize with their friends without having to shout! A special thank you to all those who donated items for our raffles and to the many volunteers who made our first ever Silent Disco a huge success. Congratulations to our “ brick winner ”. Always happy to add another engraved brick to our “ Pathway to Fitness ”! Speaking of new, we also hosted the first of its kind, PickleGolf Tournament, on Friday, January 24 on the Little 9. Over 115 participants pre - registered. More details on this “ fun ” - draiser in the next ORACLE.

February will be dedicated to a “ Healthy Heart ” month. There will be a fitness seminar with our very own Debbie Brown, who will be sharing her expertise in helping women suffering from hormonal imbalances navigate through perimenopause into menopause. Her goal is to empower through information/support, restore energy levels, and optimize quality of life. Mark your calendars for Thursday, February 6th at 11:00 a.m. We will follow up on Friday February 7th, at 2:30 p.m. with another fitness training session in the gym. The FreeMotion representative Tina Weidenkeller and our very own Health & Fitness personal trainer Stephanie Knox will demonstrate how to use the equipment properly by demonstrating and answering questions. Our Health & Fitness Committee could not do what we are doing if it wasn ’ t for our wonderful volunteers who are “ stepping up ” and supporting our activities. They set up and decorated tables, greeted our guests, sanitized headphones and much more. We appreciate you all so much. Many people have asked how they can help. One of the easiest ways is to donate your empty recyclable cans (soda/pop) along with your water bottles (plastic, no milk containers or glass) for the month of February only . We are using those funds to give back to our community to offer new and exciting activities. Drop recyclables off at lot #864 or lot #1096. Another way, purchase an engraved brick to be placed on our “ Pathway to Fitness ”. The order forms can be picked up from the Fitness Center.

FEBRUARY 2025

The Love Month Everyone is welcome!

February is a month that we often associate with love. On February 14th Valentines Day, couples exchange cards and gifts that express their affection for each other. Some of us, however, have those painful memories of our days in elementary school and the public exchange of Valentines in the classroom. I hoped I would at east get one. But Valentine ’ s Day also gives us the chance to celebrate the most profound love of all — God ’ s love for each one of us. In Ephesians 3:18 Saint Paul wrote, “ May you have the power to understand, as all God ’ s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ. ” What an incredible invitation is extended to us to encounter and experience God ’ s love, a love that transcends anything that we can imagine. Notice that this isn ’ t a call to love God. Although we should, but it is an invitation to know God ’ s love for us. Paul describes it as a four - dimensional love. It is so wide that it includes everyone of us, so long that it endures forever without end, so deep that no sing or failure is too deep to be forgiven, so high that it reaches from heaven to earth and back again.

Election of Officers — December ’ s meeting of PAWS at Outdoor Resort Palm Springs (ORPS) was a significant one, as it marked the election of officers for the 2025 season. Congratulations to our new leadership team, and thank you for your commitment to our furry friends and their families! Monthly Meetings — PAWS at ORPS will hold monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month in the ORPS Boardroom at La Palma. We encourage all pet owners to attend and participate in these discussions as we continue to strengthen our pet - friendly community. Community Outreach and Support — At PAWS, we understand the deep bond between people and their pets. This year, our outreach efforts included providing flowers to residents who have lost beloved pets. These gestures, though small, reflect the immense impact these animals have on our lives. We are also compiling two helpful resources for our community: 1. Pet Sitting List – A roster of residents available to care for pets when owners are away. 2. Dog Walking Assistance – A separate list of volunteers willing to walk pets for residents facing temporary injuries or illnesses. If you ’ d like to join either of these initiatives, please let us know. Supporting the Palm Springs Animal Shelter — PAWS at ORPS has installed a donation bin at the main dog park for items to benefit the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. Recent Southern California fires have left many pets in urgent need of food and supplies. Your contributions—big or small—make a difference. Together, we can help pets and their families during this challenging time. Rules and Regulations Reminder — We ’ d like to remind everyone to review the pet rules and regulations required here at Outdoor Resort Palm Springs. These guidelines ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all residents and their pets. A copy is available online on the PAWS at ORPS Facebook page.

Thank you to everyone who supports PAWS at ORPS and our mission. Together, we are building a compassionate and pet - friendly community.

Las Vegas Comes to Outdoor Resort Palm Springs

Las Vegas collided with Outdoor Resort Palm Springs for a night to remember! The casino floor was alive with excitement as blackjack cards were dealt, roulette wheels spun, dice flew across the craps tables, and poker hands brought plenty of action and fun. The energy was electric, and the camaraderie among attendees made the evening a truly special experience. A big part of the event ’ s success came from the incredible support we received along the way. Many of our resort vendors stepped up by sponsoring gaming tables, helping to offset the costs and ensuring the event's success. The generosity didn ’ t stop there — ORPS residents and guests donated an impressive array of items for the Silent Auction, while the 50/50 raffle proved to be a crowd favorite and a huge success. Our dedicated ORPS volunteers were the backbone of the evening, working tirelessly to keep the event running smoothly. From serving delicious appetizers to keep players fueled, to ensuring every detail was in place, their hard work did not go unnoticed. Special thanks go out to Keith Basham, who took center stage as our lively MC for the night, keeping the energy high and the fun rolling, with music from the Rat Pack expertly spun by Ron Schioldager. As with past events, the profits from Casino Night will be reinvested back into ORPS, enhancing our community and ensuring we continue to enjoy wonderful events like this in the future. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our volunteers, sponsors, and everyone who donated items and contributed their time and energy to make this night possible. Your efforts and generosity are what make ORPS such a special place, and we couldn't have done it without you.

Here ’ s to another fantastic Casino Night and many more exciting events to come! Jeff Sheldon - Lifestyle Secretary & Treasurer
