Not only do the cupcakes that Chef Kursten makes on the latest pastry edition of “Chef’s Corner” mirror the spring season, the blues and white colors resemble the colors from our new Frenchman’s Creek brand colors! “These are perfect for spring or to celebrate Mother’s Day or really any holiday,” Chef Kursten said. Chef Kursten explained step-by-step how to decorate cupcakes to make them look like a spring floral bouquet. “You need 12 cupcakes and can do any flavor you like,” she added. Using five separate piping bags with similar tips except for the white color, Chef Kursten drew her inspiration from the spring season’s array of flowers to create her cupcake bouquet: light blue roses, hydrangeas, and a special kind of flower, which is created with white petal tips and yellow dots in the center. “For the hydrangeas, I used a two- toned icing color to create the look of a hydrangea,” she explained, piping the icing onto vanilla cupcakes. Once all the cupcakes are iced with frosting, they can be arranged into a spring bouquet. These sweet treats can bring a light and joyful touch to any occasion. With every bite, they capture the essence of spring— sweet, fresh and full of color. View the icing techniques Chef Kursten used here [LINK TO CHEF’S CORNER EPISODE].
