One of “The Science Guys” entertains and educates a crowd of children at a S@YL event last summer.
Nearly 60% of county children aren’t ready for kindergarten, according to an Anne Arundel County assessment. Thanks to donors like you, AACPL is addressing this critical issue. This year, we’ve invested $45,000 in Kindergarten Readiness including $25,000 to 1000 Books Before Kindergarten . Your contributions provide giveaway books, helping kids build their own home libraries and get ready for school. See the smiles on social media as children receive their library cards— and learn more at aacpl.net/kindergarten .

YOUR DONATION IN ACTION Anne Arundel County Public Library has launched a long-term Chromebook lending program at the Brooklyn Park Library, providing 56 Chromebooks with free data for up to 12 weeks. Funded by T-Mobile for Government, Wellpoint Maryland, and the Library Foundation, this $50,000 initiative addresses the high demand for internet access, with current waiting lists exceeding 110 customers for Chromebooks and nearly 200 for Wi-Fi hotspots. This program aims to achieve digital equity, empowering customers to pursue education, career opportunities and essential online services. “This Chromebook lending program empowers Maryland families by providing access to laptops, effectively addressing financial and technological barriers,” said Wellpoint Maryland’s Director of Marketing Lori Hammond. “Wellpoint Maryland is proud to have contributed to the effort to bridge the digital divide.”
