get ahold of young folks especially young engineers and across the board. Handshake and Symplicity are like LinkedIn for college students. The back end is the college uploading all the student resumes and their information so every student at the school is on there, and then on the employer side we get to post jobs to their school’s job board and you can reach out directly to students as well. I’ve found more luck in that than going to some of the career fairs because at the career fairs you might be com- peting with a Coca-Cola or consumer companies that have a lot of brand recognition. If you’re not in the industry, peo- ple don’t necessarily know who you are. Career fairs are kind of hit or miss, job fairs same thing. But with the Handshake and Symplicity you really get to get out there and find those students who fit your needs and you can search by area too so if you’re looking for people with college experience, those are tools that you really need to have at this point for sure. Ouradnik: We go into the colleges and do mock inter- views. A lot of the students will have to do a certain level of interviewing before they can complete a course. Electron- ical/mechanical students, for example, will have 10 mock interviews where we give them feedback to improve their interviewing skills, but we’re also sourcing and getting to know them at the same time so that’s an opportunity.

No. But you bring them in and you train them and let me tell you they’re running the machines and they’re recruiting their friends. They’re doing some of the recruiting for us. McNay: I agree, I think when you’re going to job fairs, you either have to be all in or don’t go. We’ve all been to those before where it’s a table with a banner or skirt in front of it. We run into people where the HR manager doesn’t really like the ‘H.’ They’re not very friendly, they’re not very out- going, they’re not very engaging. One of things we have done when have done job fairs is we make sure it has a lot of splash. I mean obviously we all have design departments. Get your graphic teams involved in making a booth that is eye catching, that will bring people to you. We’ve also found when we do that to have people who ready who are ready to interview on the spot. One of the things that happens is somebody comes and somebody follows up with them 24, 36, 48 hours lat- er — they may be gone if they have any talent at all — so when we can we try to find a little spot to interview people and we’re offering jobs right there on the spot. Case: If you’re hiring people from college campuses, you need to be on Handshake and Symplicity. If you’re not on those, you need to be on there. It is the best way to
