written by Greta Smith & photos by Kelsey Jade Photography Bodin and Mikka Nichols met in Mikka's hometown— Watford City, ND—when Bodin was visiting his dad for a few weeks of the summer. KELSEY JADE PHOTOGRAPHY bodin & mikka As the summer drew to a close and Bodin didn't get the chance to visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park , Mikka played the role of tour guide for him.
The rest, the couple says, is history.
When it came to planning a wedding, Mikka remembers it was important to find someone who could capture the day with dreamy-looking photos. “A must-have for us was a photographer who shot both digital and film photos,” said Mikka. “We loved the look of film photos, but still wanted to have beautiful digital pictures.” To find the perfect wedding photographer, Mikka says she scoured Instagram, coming across the well-lit and ethereal shots on Kelsey Jade Photography’s page.

The couple knew they’d found their photographer, and planned the date for June 28th, 2024 in Spearfish at The Barn at Aspen Acres . Though most couples find the process of wedding planning difficult, Mikka and Bodin enjoyed it.
“It was so much fun to dream and think of ideas for our wedding day,” said Mikka. “Many times, we tried to knock out a bunch of to-dos by heading to a coffee shop and making a little date out of planning.”
Kelsey shares her goal is to make clients feel as stress-free as possible, like the camera isn’t even around. “My team and I have a very relaxed approach to posing, and we tailor wedding days to your needs and unique style,” she said.

"It's so easy to get caught up in all the tiny details, because there are a ton of them while planning a wedding. On the day of the wedding, none of those things even matter! What matters is that you have the best day ever, surrounded by your loved ones, starting the rest of your life with your partner." MIKKA ´ S ADVICE

Starting out with a digital camera in college, Kelsey has gone from photographing landscapes and wildlife to now capturing natural and candid moments in relationships. The photographer’s style is romantic and coastal, inspired by Kelsey’s love for travel, architecture, and the ocean. “As a hybrid film and digital photographer, I work to create images that are true to life with soft colors, low contrast, warm skin tones, and natural blues,” she said. Kelsey and her husband, Tom , initially bonded over their mutual love for photography, and the couple would bring a 35mm film camera on hikes. Now, Tom shoots with Kelsey, as well as learning alongside her and renovating the studio. “He’s truly my rock, soft place to land, and my best friend,” said Kelsey.

To begin booking with Kelsey, couples send an initial inquiry, to which she reaches back out with a custom quote and timeline. Next, she connects with the wedding planner to schedule the day efficiently. Depending on the package, Kelsey Jade Photography can photograph
welcome parties, rehearsal dinners, after parties, or even a morning-after brunch. Though weddings can be what Kelsey calls a “beautiful blur,” she is committed to capture how the wedding felt, and not just how it looked.
“Through the booking process, engagement photos, and wedding day, she was our hype girl, so professional, organized, creative, and—not to mention—captures the best moments in the most beautiful way,” shared Mikka.

To start their wedding day, Bodin and Mikka decided to have breakfast together at a cabin on the morning of the wedding.

Hannah and Mike Bellmore were introduced on the dating app, Bumble, met up on a golf course, and the rest is history. Three years after their first date, Mike proposed, and the Bellmores tied the knot this past July. “I was ecstatic when Mike proposed and started planning the wedding immediately,” said Hannah. She notes it was important to find a wedding planner who had interpersonal skills, an eye for design, and the organizational capacity to plan and execute a multifaceted event. “Jennifer makes you feel like the most special person on your wedding day.”
HANNAH BELLMORE
After calling and consulting with Jennifer Savage from Plan to Party , Hannah knew right away she had found her planner. “Hannah and Mike had a solid idea of how they wanted their wedding to look and feel, but they weren’t 100% confident on how to pull it off since it wasn’t exactly a typical Midwest wedding,” remembered Savage. From the first meeting, the planner says her creative brain was firing on how to bring their vision to life with talented vendors to make the special day perfect. On July 20, the couple celebrated their wedding in downtown Sioux Falls at Monick Yards . The couple had signature cocktails by the Monick bartenders, a string quartet, a live painter, and guest cakes at every table, just to name a few personalizations. “All of the special touches to focus on guest enjoyment and a memorable experience were the pieces that set this wedding apart for me,” said Savage.

“My wedding experience started with friends and family, so I still view many of my couples like they are my family members.”
JENNIFER SAVAGE
Savage’s favorite part of the wedding? The stunning pink florals from Phyllis Wiles and Shantel Ries of Dakota Giftware Supply Inc. The bride agrees, saying they turned out beautifully beyond expectation. “I just loved the whole day, but there is one moment that stood out from the rest I will never forget—the first look with Mike,” said Hannah. “My mom was by my side, we walked through the alley surrounded by beautiful florals and architecture. She let me go and I met my handsome husband. We stood back to back reading letters to each other before we turned to see one another for the first time that day. It was really special.” Savage began her planning career in 2010 and opened Plan to Party in 2013. She offers several packages that allow couples to choose their level of involvement in the planning process.

"Focus on the overall experience and joy of the day, rather than getting sucked into the small details. The little details can be special and I can absolutely make them happen, but the couples who have the most fun through the process and on their wedding day are those who want to celebrate with their friends and family." SAVAGE ADVICE

“From custom cocktails to a live painter, every moment of the day was focused on giving guests a memorable and joyful experience.”
JENNIFER SAVAGE
Mike and Hannah selected the As You Wish Collection —a partial planning package that allowed them to plan most of the wedding, while receiving the guidance of Savage’s advice and recommendations. “It was perfect for me because I was able to be very involved in the planning, but then step back, relax, and enjoy our wedding weekend,” said Hannah. Since the wedding, Hannah and Mike have adopted a puppy named Suzie and are expecting their first child together. Looking back on their photos from Laci Jane Photography , Hannah says there were so many parts of the wedding that she treasures deeply, from the fresh flowers to the catering, to the photography and cinematography. “Jennifer created the perfect timeline, ran our rehearsal, and was present from beginning to end of our wedding day,” said Hannah. “I don’t know how she does what she does, but it’s magic.” FOR MORE INFORMATION, VISIT PLANTOPARTYSD. “THE FRESH FLORALS PLAYED AN INTEGRAL ROLE IN THE DESIGN.” JOSIE HOLZWARTH, JANE RAE EVENTS
“I loved getting to see multiple vendors come together to make one cohesive design,” said Josie Holzwarth , event planner and marketing media coordinator for Jane Rae Events . “From the makeup to the stationery, everything was planned and executed to match one vision.” 605 Weddings assembled a talented team of South Dakota wedding professionals to create a styled shoot filled with rich colors of reds and greens integrated with Italian flair. The Jane Rae team was excited to plan and implement the day, which was hosted at Icon Events + DaDa Gastropub in downtown Sioux Falls. “Being an event coordinator and designer is already a dream job for me, so styled shoots are just icing on the cake,” said Holzwarth. “With styled shoots, you are given the opportunity to have creative freedom and design a space that feeds the soul.”
And that “space” was one of the main inspirations for the shoot.

“The venue connected to Icon, DaDa's Gastropub, is unlike any other restaurant in Sioux Falls,” said Holzwarth. “The eclectic and artsy restaurant is known for their unique atmosphere and bar, so we wanted to make sure to highlight both in our design. Hence, the martinis and stationery with items taken straight from their menu.” The vendors came into the shoot with three areas of focus: ceremony, cocktail bar, and table setting. "It was fun getting to help assemble some of the pieces of the shoot and hang out with the vendors,” said 605 Weddings ’ Greta Smith . “The Jane Rae girls were so personable and fun, and Icon was flexible and easy to work with." Photographer Jenna Heckel of Jenna Heckel Photography was excited to mix it up at the shoot, and played around with the flash during the session. “It was a really fun environment to be creative and do something outside of the norm of my busy season,” she said. The Jane Rae Events team picked unique blooms to accent both the space and tablescape. For an edible focal point and to add texture, they also infused tomatoes into the event design. “A focal piece was the use of tomatoes,” said Holzwarth. “The fresh garden feel they provided really brought everything to life.”

The Diamond Room went classic with the jewelry, choosing a solitaire engagement ring and a diamond wedding band. Emily Arteman of The Diamond Room says a big trend is the comeback of yellow gold. “In the past years, most engagement and wedding rings have been white gold, but we've seen a lot of customers start to mix their metals with both colors,” said Arteman. A trend Jane Rae Events wants to see, which is shown beautifully in this styled shoot, is for couples to not shy away from color. “Don't be afraid of color. It is very common for a bride to come to us with a neutral color palette, which is beautiful, but our team is always excited to see color,” said Holzwarth. “Color allows for the couple's personality to really shine and makes the design process come to life.” +

Sometimes the smallest spark of inspiration can bloom into a beautiful work of art. Serendipitous Events a Flair for Floral Prairie Lane Vintage Rentals event designer Raegan Beck learned this the fun way. After joining the team in May 2024, she was approached by owners Nicole and Matt Gappa and asked to put together a styled shoot.
While walking around the warehouse for inspiration, a floral sofa called The Lola caught Beck’s eye.
“I liked the way it looked, and I wanted to have it explode into the styled shoot,” remembered Beck.
After receiving approval from the Gappas, Beck started sending her mood board out to vendors, with the help of Serendipitous Events’ Rebecca Carlyle . As the lead Iowa and South Dakota wedding and event planner and director of personalization with Serendipitous Events, and client relations coordinator at Prairie Lane Vintage Rentals, Carlyle’s laundry list of qualifications made her the perfect person to bring Beck’s vision to life. “I mostly specialize in weddings, and I design a lot of our styled shoots and private events we host. I also have my hand in our corporate events as well when I’m not planning weddings,” said Carlyle.

Stacy Schaap, The Flower Mill
Opening in 2008, Serendipitous Events has been celebrating ever since, with everything from private gatherings to large corporate holiday work parties and fundraisers. “Anything that you want to plan or celebrate, we can execute,” said Carlyle. Beck and Carlyle began to assemble more vendors. On the search for someone to tease the flowers out of the sofa and into the shoot, Carlyle knew she had to get in touch with Stacy Schapp , owner of The Flower Mill . “Stacy’s work is so great, and her vision lined up with what we were looking for. We thought it would be a good collaboration for this shoot,” remembered Carlyle. Schaap says the growing team sent her the mood board, and she immediately loved it. “The trend right now is no greenery, and all blooms and flowers, which is such a cool look,” said Schaap. “I ordered a mix of different flowers and had three designers go out on this, and I gave them artistic creativity to do it.” Schaap’s blooms of choice? Garden roses, spray roses, stock, strawflower, astilbe, calycina, craspedia, and light blue delphinium—which the floral designer remarks is the “flower of the year.”

Beck says the hanging florals were an essential part of her vision, and that The Flower Mill team were able to execute it perfectly. “I really liked the idea, but wasn’t sure how to do it. The three designers had a cool idea with using ribbon, and all of the colors turned out,” said Beck. With a delicate floral cake from Blush Bakery By Kate and a botanical gown from The Bridal Gallery , the finishing touches were starting to come together. Both the cake and dress helped to add as many floral influences as possible while still keeping the shoot elegant, working together as a team to highlight the bridal look. “The dress was another inspiration for the shoot. The beautiful floral embellishments complimented our handpicked vintage furniture pieces,” noted Carlyle.

Rebecca Carlyle, Serendipitous Events
The shoot was scheduled for July 22 at The Veranda by Meadow Barn in Harrisburg. Beck and Carlyle agree The Veranda’s natural light, spacious interior, and outdoor landscaping was a great backdrop for the team to work with. “The open concept really allowed us to be creative,” shared Beck. Photographer Anna Behning and videographer Jordan Van Zee from Soul Film Co. were there to capture the special day and preserve it for inspiration to come. “Anna Behning is a creative through and through—she really lights up any room she walks in and is a joy to work with,” said Carlyle, also remarking that Jordan’s true artistry and vision allowed for a great documentation of the day. Custom stationery by Brandi Goebel Design created pops of color, achieving harmony for the table settings, furnished by rentals from Prairie Lane Vintage Rentals and Serendipitous Events. Though it was Beck’s first experience at a styled shoot, she noticed how relaxed it was. “It turned out amazing. Working together made it so fun and collaborative, and we could not have done it without all the other vendors,” she said.

Carlyle enjoyed being able to chat with the other professionals and seeing how everyone was able to get creative in their own way. Though her main goal was to feature the rentals Prairie Lane offers, Beck is excited to share the shoot to let brides know what is possible and showcase the talent of the vendors. Leaning into current trends helped jumpstart the shoot, but the team agrees personalizing it was what made the experience so rewarding. “Wedding trends are just that— trends,” said Carlyle. “While they are beautiful, we love seeing when vendors and clients do things personal to them and out of the ordinary to really personalize the day to themselves.” FOR MORE INFORMATION, VISIT SIOUXFALLS EVENTPLANNING. GOOD ROOTS FaRM AND GArDENS, llC
Just minutes outside of Brookings sits a rustic barn venue on 40 acres of land. Owners Julie and Bill Ross own and operate Good Roots Farm and Gardens LLC , and have hosted weddings and events since 2017. “Over the course of several years, we thoughtfully converted acres of the farm to a beautiful, peaceful place for gathering and celebrating,” said Julie. The 98 year old restored barn with a commercial kitchen and getting-ready room makes it an ideal choice for those who love to celebrate outdoors with all the charm of a historic barn. Good Roots offers several packages, including a whole weekend option covering all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until noon. “Most of our couples choose this option,” said Julie. “Then you have a relaxing window for you and your team to customize your celebration or just enjoy the barn and grounds as-is.” The farm is also available to rent for just one day and has extra rentables, including tables and 200 chairs for indoor and outdoor use. The barn has both a loft and a main floor, a patio, and a perfect location for a tent, if wanted. “You’re welcome to do light prep in our commercial kitchen and you can involve any caterer you like,” said Julie. The farmgrounds have plenty of photo opportunities amid the blooming flowers, maintained yards, and natural light. With the ability to host up to 350 guests, the venue has spacious parking, a beer and wine license, and in-house bartenders. Hayrides and use of the firepit are available on request. “We enjoy meeting the families and helping however we can,” said Julie. “Simply put, we love to serve.”

MCCROrY GArDENS
A part of South Dakota State Universit y, McCrory Gardens began as the horticulture research grounds on campus. Now, venue sales and services coordinator Lori Puetz says the gardens are a stand-out among South Dakota’s wedding and event venues, like no other in the region. The botanical gardens consist of 25 acres of formal gardens and the adjoining 45 acres of state arboretum. Ceremonies can be held in several display garden locations or the arboretum. The Terrace Garden , Education & Visitor Center , and Great Hall are reception options. “These areas are filled with grand planters overflowing with lovely seasonal blooms, surrounded by beds of perennial plantings, punctuated with trees of varying distinction and characteristics, and accented with a contemporary design fountain, pergolas, cedar outdoor furnishings with umbrellas, and an enchanting sculpture,” shared Puetz. During the right time of year, Puetz also says butterflies linger and flutter among the flowers, making for a magical experience. “Altogether, any of our spaces create a captivating, inviting, and memorable place to celebrate one of the happiest days for a couple, their
family, and friends,” said Puetz. Another perk of McCrory Gardens is the exclusive catering service. From hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer, buffets, and served meals, to desserts and late night snacks—the possibilities are endless for the SDSU Jacks catering chefs. The venue also offers wedding tastings before the big day. Photo opps are endless, and booking a wedding at the gardens also includes the ability to take engagement photos on site with no admission charge. “The natural and built landscapes of the formal gardens create some of the most stunning photography backdrops, helping to create memories to last a lifetime,” said Puetz, sharing couples often come back to reminisce for their anniversaries in future years. Puetz says she has seen many beautiful wedding themes, from very creative movie-themed weddings, to discussing tying the knot in silk pajamas, to brunch receptions with omelet and waffle bars. “We’ve held many weddings, yet for each couple, we listen with fresh perspective, eager to learn what plans can unfold to elevate the experience and make each couple’s special day perfect for them,” she said.

sioux falls MOSAIC aRTS & EVENTS For a place where creativity, community, and artistry come together, consider Mosaic Arts & Events . Previously the Museum of Visual Materials , the business opened in 2007 and occupies a quartzite and brick building in uptown Sioux Falls. Originally built in 1887, the building was first occupied by the Consolidated Tank Line Company , later becoming the Standard Oil Company . In 2005, it was purchased by Dr. Rose Faithe , who incorporated recycled materials and energy efficient practices. Mosaic offers full-day rentals, as well as special non-profit pricing. Additional items are available to rent that may best fit a couple’s event. Events and marketing manager Claire Litzen says the building is filled with years of charm and character. “I take great joy in seeing guests utilize our exposed brick walls, soaring ceilings, and original wood floors as a stunning backdrop. It’s wonderful to watch each celebration transform our space into a unique and personal reflection of their love story,” she said. Litzen oversees all aspects of event management, which includes coordinating tours, finalizing meetings, designing floor plans, and handling alcohol orders. As a non-profit, booking an event with Mosaic also means the investment directly supports art education programs. “Your events help us provide art education resources for homeschool families, adults with disabilities, elderly communities, early education initiatives, and a variety of community activities,” said Litzen. “You can feel good knowing your wedding makes a meaningful impact,” she added.

OLD COURTHOUSE MUSEUM PHOTOS BY AC ELLIS
OLD COURTHOUSE MUSEUM sioux falls
For historic charm and downtown walkability, consider the Old Courthouse Museum in Sioux Falls. Originally the Minnehaha County Courthouse , the building opened in 1890, became a museum in 1974, and began hosting events in 1987. The museum does flat rates for day time hours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and hourly rates after 5. There is no list of preferred vendors, so couples can bring in any caterer, florist, photographer, or professional they like. “Something that sets us apart from other venues is the historic charm of the building—the wood floors, tall ceilings, chandelier in the courtroom, stained glass windows, and grand staircase, to name a few,” said events coordinator Staci Peters . She notes decorating can be simple, but elegant in the setting, and often not a lot of décor is required. Exhibit galleries stay open during the event, so guests are able to wander and explore the museum. Peters works with couples to plan ceremonies and receptions, rehearsal dinners, photoshoots, and bridal showers. The museum hosts other events, like anniversary parties, graduation open houses, conference receptions, and more. Open seven days a week, with the exception of holidays, couples are welcome to stop in and browse. If preferred, a tour can be set up. Peters says her favorite part of the job is seeing the process from start to finish. “I enjoy getting to know the couples as they are starting their married life together, seeing the excitement build as the day gets closer, and the joy at the end of their wedding day. It’s one of the biggest days of their life, and they’ve chosen to share it with us. That, to me, is priceless!”

THE FArMHOUSE BARN
Amy Gustafson and Savannah Horst have always envisioned building a wedding and event venue, and one night over cocktails at Murphy’s Pub & Grill in Rapid City, it became a reality. Both mothers and nurses by trade, they built The Farmhouse Barn from the ground up with the help of family and friends. The Sturgis venue opened in 2019, offering one day to three day rentals for the space, as well as decorating and coordinating packages. A full bar, outdoor power, patio spaces with lawn games, and a vintage truck for photo opps are all available. Additionally, a marquee sign can be customized to welcome guests to the wedding. All packages include access to The Farmhouse Cottage —a separate bridal suite with a makeup bar, full bathroom and shower, kitchenette, heat and air, and a pull-out sofa. The cottage can also be added on as a honeymoon suite. The barn can host 50 to over 400 people, with different spaces inside and out allowing for versatile planning. Horst says her and Gustafson’s “down-to-earth” nature sets them apart from other venues. “We are very easy going, and we also want the best for each of our guests. We want them to feel like they are a part of The Farmhouse Barn family,” she said. The co-owners’ favorite part of weddings is watching guests kick back and have fun, using the outdoor spaces to have s’mores around the fire, dance, and play cornhole. “It makes us so happy to watch all our guests enjoying themselves inside and outside, and utilizing the full property,” said Horst.

"our goal is to offer fair prices, great value, and exceptional service." - joy broin
Many wedding planners agree that personalizing your wedding and exploring unique trends will result in making your special day the best it can be.
But what if you could personalize your wedding day down to the smallest details?
The world of custom accessories is changing the game by allowing you to give meaningful gifts that will ensure your wedding day is a memorable one, while making your family and friends feel seen and loved. Joy Broin , sales and marketing manager at Cufflinks in Sioux Falls, says the goal is simple: to take care of each customer by providing custom accessories that can’t be found elsewhere. Oftentimes, weddings are seen as the bride’s special day, but Cufflinks aims to provide something special for grooms, groomsmen, and parents as well. “For weddings, we offer cufflinks, studs, ties, tie bars, and more,” said Broin. “We also offer custom engravable gifts for the dads and your groomsmen.”
Gifts like these can elevate style and make the recipient feel celebrated and special in a subtle way.
“It’s not just for women to get the fun accessories,” shared Broin.

Cufflinks was established in 1999, and the Broin brothers— Adam , Derek , and Jacob —bought the business in 2017. Eager to provide a storefront for people to try on and look at the products, the family opened their Sioux Falls showroom in 2019. Cufflinks’ selection includes a wide range of specifics, from interests like boating, dinosaurs, or political products, to more specifics like fandom and character accessories. For entertainment junkies, check out the Marvel , DC , Star Wars , Disney , Harry Potter , or Star Trek collections. Sports fanatics can also enjoy repping their favorite teams from a variety of leagues like the NFL , NBA , MLB , NCAA , and NHL . Lapel pins and cufflinks to support local colleges like University of South Dakota , South Dakota State University , and University of Sioux Falls are also available. Broin says that the most popular products are the Wedding Party Engravable Tie Bars .

Customers can engrave names, dates, logos, or anything they can think of on the tie bars. Hidden messages like, “I love you, Dad,” on the inside of the tie bar can create an intimate and touching moment on a wedding day. “ Stud Sets have always been popular as well, and outside of weddings it’s all things Star Wars ,” Broin revealed. In the Star Wars line alone, Cufflinks offers ties, lapel pins, tie bars, bow ties, gift sets, pocket squares, socks, necklaces, scarves, bracelets, and more. Many of the gifts are discreetly customized. You might not even know a groomsman is wearing a Yoda Green Paisley Men’s Tie unless he told you, as the character’s face is cleverly hidden inside the design. “I thought it was great being able to give the groomsmen and fathers a gift tailored to their interests, from Star Trek to college logos,” said bride Abby Hubbard , noting the ease of finding something for everyone. “It also made for some great detail photos,” she said.

Broin says her favorite part of the job is helping the product designer determine which accessories to develop. “It's fun to try to ‘predict the future’ and see which products the wearer or gift giver might love,” she said. In addition to the high-quality and work-appropriate nods to beloved fandoms and characters, the company carries a variety of stylish brands, such as Jacob & Co , Tateossian London , and Jan Leslie . Broin says the team at Cufflinks loves supplying these thoughtful, custom gifts. “We love to hear about your events, which accessories you are interested in, and hand you your accessories right away,” she said.

KYLEE MEYER REED
“I genuinely couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” said Kylee Meyer Reed , owner of Kylee Jade - Photographer . “Photos have held so much meaning and joy for me, and I wanted to help others have that, too,” she said. Meyer Reed’s love for photography started back in college. After dabbling in art during high school, she became obsessed with interesting lighting conditions and would wake up early to walk around town. “My friends and I had the best time putting together photoshoots and trying new ideas,” said Meyer Reed.
Now, the creative offers documentary-style photography, always aiming to capture the natural beauty and authenticity of weddings in an unhurried way. In addition to weddings, Meyer Reed offers unposed “day in the life” family sessions that range from two to 10 hours. My goal as a business is… to document wedding days in an honest and reflective way. To show up for people in a manner that makes them feel seen and appreciated just as they are.
Something I’m excited about right now is… I think there’s a lot of interest in weddings being true to the couple. Instead of following certain rules, having fun with it, and I love to see it!
My services are perfect for those who… treasure photos and the memories they hold, but want a hands-off, laid-back approach to the day.

I offer… documentary wedding coverage that keeps the day as undirected as possible. The top two packages include “date night” engagement sessions, where we spend part of a couple’s session enjoying a favorite activity, place, or hobby. Every session is different from the next! I’ve traveled to… Ecuador—the birthplace of my youngest brother—to volunteer at the children’s home, For His Children . One thing I love about South Dakota is… the Black Hills. From childhood reunions, our wedding, and anniversary trips, the Hills have always been a place of peace for me. Sioux Falls-wise, I love all it offers when it comes to art, small businesses, and
food, while still having a small-town vibe. The best part of my job is…
getting to witness people share memories with those they love most. It’s such an intimate, special thing to be a part of. Getting to know the amazing people I work with is always a perk, too!

My favorite way to spend my free time is… with my husband, parents, and siblings. I became an aunt last year and it’s been so much fun! Otherwise, I love reading, attempting to bake, a good crime show, and trying new restaurants. I love to grab a bite or drink at… Sanaa’s Gourmet Mediterranean , Swamp Daddy’s Cajun Kitchen , or Oppa Chicken . Recently, I’ve had some great non-alcoholic drinks at Maribella Ristorante and The Hello Hi . My advice to aspiring photographers is… photograph the small details of your life and the “in between;” the characteristics of people you love and don’t want to forget. Photograph with your heart first. Lighting and composition can be practiced, but I believe the ability to know a real moment comes largely from your gut. Make lots of photos, and focus on improvement over perfection. Celebrate your growth! Before I was a photographer… I wanted to be an English teacher. That didn’t pan out, but it’s still my favorite school subject.
“Micro-weddings are so chill, but full of the biggest emotions. Highly recommend!”
