All Literacy Pro ebooks, as well as thousands of print titles referred to in the program, include a Think More, an optional comprehension check that allows students to assess their understanding of the text. Most Think More comprehension checks have 10 questions, but those for some very short books have only five. Think More comprehension checks for Spanish ebooks are in Spanish. Each higher-order thinking question is aligned to one of the following ELA skills, depending on the book content:
• Cause and Effect • Compare and Contrast • Draw Conclusions
• Identify Key Ideas and Details • Identify Reasons and Evidence • Make Inferences • Recall
• Sequence • Summarize • Vocabulary
Think More comprehension checks are designed to aid, not test, students’ reading comprehension. The activity window opens over the window with the ebook reader, allowing students to refer back to the book to find text evidence. Students do not have to finish a Think More within one session and can return at any time to where they left off. Once they complete a Think More, students receive immediate feedback and see the correct answers for all of the questions. They can also take a book’s Think More multiple times and may be asked different questions. Educators can see all Think More results, including multiple attempts at the same one, and use them to differentiate small-group and one-on-one instruction.
