YEAR FOUR

My picture is about three snakes under a starry night sky, one element fire, one water, and fire and water combined, which is light or rainbow. Kathy N

The Term 3 inquiry focus was on Aboriginal histories and cultures. We have been focusing on the relationship between Country and culture, and the connection to place. A few key topics we have learnt about are the meaning of traditional Aboriginal artwork, song and dance, and the creation of the land. As part of our Inquiry, the Year 4s also went to the Melbourne Museum and explored the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre. There they learnt stories of the First Peoples of Victoria, and celebrated the Aboriginal culture through performances, artwork, and traditions.

The Year 4s went on an excursion to the Melbourne Museum. The best part of it was seeing the exhibition of Bunjil, the Aboriginal spirit and creator, who gave spirit and life to people. I also loved the First People exhibition. One of my favourite parts was when we had to sort out different cards labelled with Aboriginal related items, into different cultural bags and purses.
