THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT DISCLOSURE

1. BE INFORMED Study FPPC Campaign Disclosure Manual 2, which is available on the FPPC website at https://www.fppc.ca.gov/content/fppc-v2/fppc-www/learn/campaign-rules/campaign-disclosure- manuals.html#title2 2. BEFORE RAISING OR SPENDING ANY MONEY File Form 501 (Candidate Intention Statement). Open a campaign bank account and file Form 410 within 10 days of receiving or spending $2,000, get an identification number by filing Form 410. 3. MARK YOUR CALENDAR Mark your calendar for due dates for filing Forms 501, 410, 460 and 470. Check Manual 2. You must file campaign disclosure documents until you file termination documents. 4. GET A COMMITTEE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER By filing Form 410 with the Secretary of State and copy with your local filing officer. 5. KEEP GOOD RECORDS Maintain details on contributions and expenditures of $25 or more. Example: For a contribution of $25 or more, record the giver’s name, address and keep a copy of the check. 6. $100 OR MORE IN CASH? Never accept or spend $100 or more in cash. 7. CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION LIMITS TO CITY ELECTIVE OFFICE CANDIDATES A person shall not make to a candidate for elective city office, and a candidate for elective city office shall not accept from a person a contribution totaling more than $5,500.* *On January 1, 2023, and every odd-numbered On January 1, 2023, and every odd-numbered year thereafter, the limit set forth in subsection A shall be adjusted to reflect any increase or decrease in the Consumer Price Index in the same manner as the Fair Political Practices Commission adjusts the limits under Government Code section 85301(d) or any successor provision. 8. PAY TO PLAY RESTRICTIONS See section 2.55.010 Pay-to-Play Restrictions in the San Bernardino Municipal Code 9. USING PERSONAL FUNDS FOR CAMPAIGN EXPENSES All personal funds of the candidate must first be deposited in the campaign bank account, except for filing fee/ballot statement fee. 10. REPORT LATE CONTRIBUTIONS If $2,000 or more is received from one contributor during the last 90 days before the election, disclose receipt within 24 hours, even if the contribution is from your personal funds. 11. ITEMIZE CONTRIBUTORS For contributions of $100 or more, including loans and in-kind contributions, you must disclose the contributor’s name, address, occupation and employer.
