Appendix F. Elective and Appointed Office Titles

Candidates, excluding judges, who were elected by a vote of the people and hold office at the time of filing candidacy documents, may choose to use one of the following:

• their elective office title (Cal. Elec. Code §13107(a)(1)), or • the unmodified word “Incumbent” if the candidate is filing for the same office they currently hold (Cal. Elec. Code §13107(a)(2) and Cal. Code of Regulations §20713(b)), or • no more than three words designating their elective office title and their principal profession, vocation, or occupation (Cal. Code of Regulations §20712(d)).

Candidates excluding judges who were appointed to fill a vacant office and hold office at the time of filing candidacy documents may choose to use one of the following:

• The word “Appointed” and their elective office title (Cal. Elec. C ode §13107(a)(4) and Cal. Code of Regulations §20715(b)), or • the unmodif ied words “Appointed Incumbent” if the candidate is filing for the same office they currently hold (Cal. Elec. Code §13107(a)(4) and Cal. Code of Regulations §20715(a)).

Appendix G. Candidates for Judicial Offices

Candidates running for a judicial office who were elected by a vote of the people to hold office, or appointed to fill a vacant office, and hold office at the time of filing candidacy documents may choose to use one of the following: • the name of the government agency and their full elective office title (Cal. Elec. Code §13107(b)(1)(a) and Cal. Elec. Code §13107(b)(3)), or • the unmodified word “Incumbent” if the candidate is filing for the same office they currently hold (Cal. Elec. Code §13107(b)(1)(b)) Candidates running for judicial offices who are an active member of the State Bar and employed by a government agency shall use one of the following (Cal. Elec. Code §13107(b)(2) and Cal. Elec. Code §13107(b)(3)): • the name of the government agency and their actual job title, or • the words “Attorney at Law,” or • the words “Counselor at Law,” or • the word “Attorney,” or • the word “Lawyer,” or • the word “Attorney” and one other principal profession, vocation, or occupation, or • the word “Lawyer” and one other principal profession, vocation, or occupation. Candidates running for Judge of the Superior Court who are an active member of the State Bar and practice law as one of their principal professions shall use one of the following (Cal. Elec. Code §13107(c)):
