A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 9

We are now in our last week before the half term holidays. This week, a small number of Year 9 students went on a trip to Kensington Palace. The trip was a great success and provided a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about the history and cultural significance of the palace. This week, the top form for epraise was 9FBH, followed by 9FWD in second place, and 9PFO in third. Congratulations to all! We have many exciting trips coming up. The Duke of Edinburgh expeditions are soon upon us, so students should continue to log their volunteering outside of school and ensure they have all their equipment ready. Additionally, we have an English trip to Strawberry Hill House scheduled for June and July. Communication regarding this trip has been sent out to parents. A reminder that all students with Chromebooks should bring them in each day. The use of Chromebooks is a fundamental part of many lessons, enhancing our students’ learning experience and enabling interactive and engaging lessons. We have had a few students repeatedly forget their Chromebooks, which causes significant disruptions not only to the hub team but also to learning. Please ensure your child brings their Chromebook daily to avoid any disruptions. Please remind your child to charge their Chromebook every evening. Please support the school to maintain our high standards regarding uniforms. Students are reminded to remove any fake eyelashes, fake nails, or nail polish before returning after the half-term holidays, in line with our uniform policy. We hope that you and your family have a lovely half term break.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Turtles all the way down by John Green. Turtles all the way down follows the 16 year old character Aza Holmes as she struggles with OCD and anxiety. However, she embarks on a journey to find out the mysterious absence of her ex million best friend’s father, despite the dangers involved within this. I found this book really intriguing as it gives you a first hand perspective on the experiences that people struggling and persevering with mental illnesses face. It also delves into the strong connections of friendships and how they shape you to be the person you are today. ~ Recommended by Yasemin A, 11ERU
