Greater OKC Region Aerospace and Aviation - 2025 Aerospace workers continue to comprise an important share of total wage and salary employment across the 10-County region. The more than 45,500 wage and salary workers in aerospace accounted for an Payne County and Cleveland County have the largest number of aerospace firms, with 31 and 27 establishments, respectively. Both counties are home to Tier 1 research universities (Oklahoma State University in Payne County and University of Oklahoma in Cleveland County) that offer degree programs in aerospace engineering, aviation management, and flight training.
