Flight Research and Analysis Group (FRAG) The Flight Research and Analysis Group is the research arm of the Flight Technologies and Procedure Division. The group provides support for aviation safety research on high fidelity, advanced technology cockpit, and simulation platforms for FAA and industry sponsors. The group maintains and operates two state-of-the-art full-flight simulators to support evaluations of current flight operations as well as NextGen concepts and has a highly professional staff to provide sponsors with the necessary support and knowledge to utilize the simulators to their maximum potential. The research capabilities of the FRAG are providing flight standards with the necessary means to develop data-driven operational policy. Enterprise Services Center (ESC) The Enterprise Services Center is the FAA’s only federally designated Shared Service Provider. They are one of four designated Financial Shared Service Providers across the Federal Government. They were also the first government agency to achieve GSA’s 3rd party Assessment organization certification for information security. They provide support services such as integrated financial and procurement systems, financial services, information technology and security, print/media services, and cellular devices to government agencies to enable them to drive government efficiencies. ESC supports over 35 customers including FAA, DOT, SEC, OPM, CFTC, NEA, and more. Civil Aviation Registry Division The Civil Aviation Registry is responsible for registering U.S. civil aircraft and for issuing permanent airman certificates to qualified airmen. They are also responsible for managing and improving Registry systems, data, and information in support of the Registry. Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) CAMI is the medical certification, research, education, and occupational health wing of the FAA’s Office of Aerospace Medicine. The goal of their activities is to enhance aviation safety. CAMI conducts research primarily on human factors in flight. They study the factors that influence human performance in the aerospace environment, find ways to understand them, and communicate that understanding to the aviation community. There is no other research facility in the world that performs the type of research conducted in this facility.
