Across the combined private sector, Oklahoma’s ranks among the top half of states. The state’s private aerospace sector ranks 16th in number of establishments, 21st in employment, and 24th in total wages paid in 2024. Average annual wages paid rank 28th. The state’s core private aerospace rankings on all measures either equal or exceed the state’s rank as the 28th most populous state. In other words, the state’s private sector aerospace mix reflects a relatively high level of manufacturing- and maintenance-related activity, less commercial air transportation activity, and more air transportation services in Oklahoma than in states of comparable size. The five largest private sector aerospace markets by employment are California, Texas, Washington, Florida, and Georgia. All five states have diversified markets with a large share of all three core private sectors. High concentrations within NAICS 3364 (Aerospace Manufacturing) are evident among the leaders, all with large aerospace-related manufacturing sectors. Washington and California have a far larger share of NAICS 3364 than the other states.
