Greater Oklahoma City Region - Aerospace Industry Survey

By geography, approximately 77% ($4.18 billion) of total state contracting activity is traced to the 10-county Greater Oklahoma City region. More than 90% ($3.87 billion) of the contracts issued in the 10-county region were performed in Oklahoma County alone. By major agency, the Department of Defense (DoD) is the largest federal contracting entity within the state. Almost 75% ($4.04 billion) of the value of all contract work performed statewide in fiscal year 2024 was issued by DoD agencies. Among DoD departments, the Air Force remains the primary source of federal contracts. Air Force contracts totaled $2.55 billion in fiscal year 2024 and comprised 46% of total contracts in the state from all federal sources. Notably, Air Force contracting in fiscal year 2024 increased 36% from $1.88 billion in fiscal year 2019. Eighty-nine percent of all Air Force contract work in Oklahoma was performed in the 10-county Greater OKC region, with most of the remainder attributable to Vance and Altus Air Force bases. Air Force contracts in the 10-county region totaled $2.24 billion in fiscal year 2024, up 37% from $1.63 billion in fiscal year 2019.
