Women-Owned Diamond Packaging Marks 114 Years In Operation Rochester, New York based Diamond Packaging, a WBENC-certified women-owned business and long-stand- ing innovator in folding carton design and sustainability, is celebrating 114 years in operation. Under the leadership of CEO and owner Karla Fichter, Diamond continues to build on a legacy defined by technical excellence, environmen- tal responsibility, and a strong commitment to diversity. Fichter, who leads one of the industry’s most recog- nized independent packaging manufacturers, says being a women-owned business is a point of pride—but not a request for spe- cial treatment. “Being classified as a woman-owned business doesn’t grant any exceptions, nor do I want any,” she said. “Our company still has to be a high performer in all ar- eas to compete in our industry, and we’re happy to work hard to set the benchmark so that Diamond can be a leader in the pack- aging world.” She emphasizes that Diamond’s culture is rooted in diversity, inclusion, and respect, values that strengthen both the workplace and the company’s long-term success. “We value and celebrate our collective experience, talent Karla Fichter
and self-expression,” she said. “These strengths lead to a stronger, richer and more rewarding work environment.” That commitment extends beyond Diamond’s walls. As a certified women’s business enterprise, the company actively seeks out partnerships with women- and minori- ty-owned businesses and has set a goal to increase its spend with diverse suppliers by ten percent per year for the next five years. “We look to partner with companies that are strong advocates for supplier diversity because it will expand opportunities and eliminate barriers in the marketplace for diverse business owners,” Fichter said. Looking ahead, Diamond plans to continue investing in new technology and innovation to deliver premium pack- aging solutions that enhance brand value. Advancing ESG initiatives remains a core priority as well, with environmen- tal stewardship, social responsibility, and strong gover- nance principles integrated throughout operations. The company’s recent achievements reflect that ded- ication. Diamond was named to USA TODAY’s America’s Climate Leaders 2025 list for year-over-year reductions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. The company also received its third Platinum rating from EcoVadis, placing it among the top leaders in global sustainability assess- ments. After more than a century in business, Diamond Pack- aging remains focused on the principles that have shaped its success: innovation, responsibility, and a deep belief in the power of people.
