AN ACTIVE LIFE
ENCOURAGING OUR KIDS TO FOLLOW THEIR PASSIONS
T here were two minutes left in an autumn soccer game, and the score remained deadlocked at 0-0. My daughter Lindsay, a solid defensive player since she was a little girl, and her team had been beaten by these same foes with a score of 2-5 in a game the day before. But their most recent matchup, the aforementioned stalemate, was for the championship. As the clock continued to wind down, Lindsay’s team scored the first goal of the game. The entire team lost their minds, and the sidelines went nuts. I couldn’t celebrate just yet. There were still two minutes on the clock, and a lot can happen in two minutes. Lucky for Lindsay and her team, nothing did. They won the championship game in their tournament! This group of girls, most of whom have been playing together for years, were able to overcome the adversity of being beaten by their rivals and held their own in a tough fight. This is a common weekend in the Earley household. My wife and I have a rule that each of our kids has to be involved in something. It can be anything productive; they just have to do something outside of the home. Lindsay has been active on school, youth, and traveling soccer teams for years. She’s good at what she does, and she enjoys being with her teammates. Her mom and I love that she’s being active and getting involved, and we enjoy watching her games. As long as they’re called fairly, we don’t care about the outcome.
some of the regimens she’s involved in right now, and her expertise helps our little athletes stay motivated and trained. Our youngest daughter, Natalie, who will soon turn 8, has been getting more involved in gymnastics. We’ve set up

a bar and a beam in the basement for her to practice, and she does flips, roundoffs, and cartwheels throughout the house all day every day. We’ve gotten her involved at a gym that does team gymnastics, and her coach is a former world-class gymnast. We’re excited to see where this adventure takes her, but she already loves it. As for my middle daughter, Paige, who will be 12 years old soon, she’s still figuring out what her “thing” is going to be. She was a dancer for five years, and she tried softball last year. Paige mentioned recently that she might try cross-country, which as an avid runner, I love. Seeing her actively try new things and take an interest in so many different activities makes me proud. She’s getting a flurry of new experiences at a young age. I do wish Lindsay would take a lesson from her younger sisters and try something other than soccer, but as long as all three of our girls are active, healthy, and happy, my wife and I are content.
It helps, too, that my wife, Karen, is a fitness instructor who teaches several classes per week at Main Line Health. Body combat, body attack, and kettlebell training are
Plus, last-minute goals at championship soccer matches are exhilarating — even when the game is played by a bunch of 14-year-olds.

Gaining Perspective With Folklore Chris Earley’s Book of the Month
As we wrap up our 2018, a little perspective might be just what we all need to have a valuable 2019. That’s why I suggest readers check out “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho this month. This short, simple read brought real life lessons up to the surface for me, and I know readers will find the same touching meanings. Coelho, a Brazilian writer whose works have been translated into English, writes a compelling folklore and fable-esque tale about a sheepherder in Europe. His writing style is simple, easy, and full of quotable lines. Many readers like myself have garnered a new take on life from this quick read. The story begins with sheepherder Santiago. He yearns for life outside of his home village in Spain, so he ventures off on an expedition to the pyramids to try to make a name for himself. On his journey, he crosses paths with a duo who tell him about an old tree and a church in Spain where a pot of gold has been hidden. It’s an elusive treasure that has yet to be found by this pair, and Santiago’s interest is piqued. He’s spent his whole life trying to escape Spain, and now Santiago finds himself intrigued and pulled back to his home. “Tyler with Liberty Inspections did such an incredible job for a recent home inspection for us. We knew that this house needed some work, but after being slapped in the face with a detailed reality check, I don't think I could trust anyone, or any company, more than Liberty Inspections. Prompt, honest, and he doesn't miss a single thing.” -Jillian P. “I am a Realtor and have met many home inspectors. I was recently referred to Liberty through a presentation they hosted and decided to give them a try. The inspection was for a property I was purchasing. The inspection was performed by Tyler. When we arrived at the property, he was already on the roof checking its condition. Tyler is super friendly and willing to answer all questions. I have been to many of these, but I have to say, he covered EVERYTHING! Kudos to Tyler and Liberty — I will definitely be referring them to my clients.” –Heath L. OUR CUSTOMERS SAY IT BEST
The main lesson I learned from “The Alchemist” was perspective. Sometimes you just need a healthy dose of context to pull you back from your own ledge. We all experience points where we are in
bad places in our lives, and Coelho’s writing reminds readers that it could always be worse. Sometimes the place you’re trying to leave is exactly where you need to be.
I loved the time I spent reading this book, and I would suggest it to anyone who needs an extra push. Without too much nonsense, it’s a self-help book that masquerades as a novel. It’s a story you can tell your kids and one with a lesson for any age.
Find “The Alchemist” on Amazon or your Kindle app. Be warned, though: You won’t want to put it down once you start.

A BIRD’S-EYE VIEW
HOW CAN DRONE INSPECTIONS UPGRADE YOUR COMMERCIAL PROPERTY?
Whether you’re looking to purchase, update, or monitor a commercial property, you want to ensure you’re getting the best view of all its nooks and crannies. An expert inspector will know what to look for, but sometimes the best vantage point is in the sky. This is a big investment for your business, livelihood, and passion, so it’s important that you see the whole picture before diving in.
features high-definition video and photography, so every crack, imperfection, and stain is featured in incredible detail. Our devices are compliant with Federal Aviation Administration standards, and our operators are certified and trained to remotely control the drone.
Furthermore, all of the recorded video footage and photos are saved to the cloud, so you can archive your content to actively keep tabs on the progress of your construction or keep a thorough library of your property’s details. Drone-inspection content is sent off to clients within minutes, and it’s a tangible piece of your inspection that you own.
A drone inspection can give you an elevated viewpoint of your property and help you compile a complete overview of the premises. A proper ground-level inspection will provide you with details and solutions to any problems your property may have, but with a drone, you can see a larger, more advanced picture. For example,
you could get a better idea of the severity of your foundation issues or locate the ideal direction for your company to expand. Aerial inspections give you the big picture and put your ground-level inspection into perspective.
Drone technology isn’t just for commercial-property owners, either. Real estate agents and homebuyers and sellers can get their own high vantage point of a property to ensure they are making a sound investment. Updates and renovations are made easy with a full-picture view created by this flyover technology.
At Liberty Inspection Group, our drone technology offers clients a sky-high view of their silos, warehouses, power lines, skyscrapers, open fields, and more. The equipment

G E T AW AY A N D B E F E S T I V E T H I S H O L I D AY S E A S O N CHRISTMAS TOURS
There’s nothing quite like the magical lights of the holiday season, and some destinations in the U.S. have perfected the craft of holiday decoration. If you’re looking to get away this December and still engage in seasonal festivities, add one of these places to your must-visit list. NEWYORK CITY’S ROCKEFELLER CENTER New York City is an iconic location for Christmastime. The scene is like a Hallmark card: Ice-skating lovers whiz past miles of twinkling lights underneath an exceptionally tall and amply-decorated tree. The tree is specially selected by Rockefeller Center’s landscaping crews, who scout out trees years in advance. It remains lit from November to early January, so you have plenty of time to check it out. RANCH CHRISTMAS IN JACKSON,WYOMING Jackson, Wyoming, takes its frontier culture to the next level during the Christmas season. All year, the city proudly displays four elk antler arches, but around the holidays, they are
lit up with white string lights and flanked by snow. The Christmas decorations and lights surrounding the archway make for a Western-themed holiday pulled right out of a John Wayne classic. For holiday admirers looking for a unique spin, Jackson has you covered. YEARLYYULETIDE IN SANTA CLAUS, INDIANA This one’s for the Christmas lover. If you can’t make it out to Santa Claus, Indiana, this holiday season, you can still celebrate Christmas in this tiny Midwestern town in January, June, or even October. Embracing its unique name, the town boasts a museum, holiday shopping center, and a Christmas theme park. In a moving tribute, the town’s residents also write responses to children’s letters to Kris Kringle himself. It’s impossible to avoid holiday cheer in this town. DISNEYWORLD’S CHRISTMAS MAGIC What better place to celebrate the most magical time of the year than in the most magical place on Earth? Walt Disney World’s halls are decked to the max with a parade, gingerbread homes, strings of lights, and festive parties. Plus, costs to visit Disney World can be cheaper during the Christmas season, so keep an eye out for a vacation steal.
