CWU Trustee Retreat Agenda Thursday

ENROLLMENT GOALS, STRATEGIES AND TACTICS

The enrollment goals and sub-goals for CWU are multi-faceted and complex: increasing the economic and racial/ethnic diversity of the student body; increasing the number of new freshman and degree completers; improving market position and demand; increasing persistence and graduation rates; and meeting future net tuition revenue needs. The enrollment goals set forth are challenging, as they are intended to be. What follows is list of mission-centric, sub-goals and relevant strategies. Included are some of the tactics that will be employed to meet those goals. The list is preliminary; the next phase of enrollment planning will create the implementation plan, which will include a comprehensive list of tactics. Some of the tactics shown are already underway, in the planning stages, or completely new. New initiatives will require a thoughtful consideration of reallocation of existing financial resources. Mission Enrollment Goal: Increase CWU’s total undergraduate enrollment from 11,063 in fall 2017 to 14,225 in fall 2024. This overarching goal incorporates our mission and core values to become a more diverse and inclusive institution, to better serve all of our students, and is a goal sufficient to support CWU’s six year revenue requirements. Mission Enrollment Goal: Increase the percentage of traditionally under-represented students from 29% to 37% by 2024. Increase the percentage of Hispanic/LatinX students from 15.7% to 25 % by 2024. The number of Hispanic/LatinX choosing CWU has steadily increased over the last nine years, as has their percentage of total enrollment:

Mission Enrollment Goal: Increase the enrollment of degree completers by 50%. Expand the scope and range of educational services available to degree-completers. The definition of degree completers includes transfer students, but it also includes veterans, students returning with some college after time away from higher education, and students who are within a few quarters of obtaining a degree.
