Cleaving unto the Lord means certain success. This is possible: 1. By prayerful dependence upon Him (Phil. 4:6). Dependence upon God makes the impossible a possibility. 2. By being taught by Him (Matt. 11: 29). Take His yoke and His rest, and be willing to learn o f Him. 3. By a ready response to His Word (John 14:21). There are two motives for keeping commandments; because they are commanded, and because we love the one who commands. 4. By whole-hearted surrender to Him (Rom. 12:1). The mercies of God are the concentrated evidences of His love. 5. By separation from the ungodly (2 Cor. 6:17). 6. By living a life o f faith in Him (Gal. 2:20). It is a faith that knows th&t He died for the world, but which particu larly knows that He died for me. 7. By waiting for His appearing (1 Thess. 1:10). As we wait and a s , we cleave we will be inspired to serve. —I. W.
