a mellow soft light, so that mortal eye can bear it.” Christ’s attitude of submission and obedi ence to His heavenly Father while in His estate of humiliation is the perfect example of what mankind’s relationship to God should be. It is true that in His character as very God of very God, Christ was different from every other individual. He was threatened with stoning because He claimed deity in saying: “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). But, in voluntary subjection as a Man, He said: “My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work” (John 4:34). Again, He declared: “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judg ment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me” (John 5:30). As we gaze upon our Lord Jesus Christ, we may know that our Father’s nature is the same. Jesus said: “This is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life” (John 6 :39,40). Thus the will of God as seen in Jesus is that God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9).

a group of passages which reveal various aspects of the character of Jesus Christ as shown in His earthly life: His compassion (Matt. 9:35-38; John 11:13-15, 33-36, 43) ; His sternness toward irreverence or hypoc risy (John 2:13-16: Matt. 15:7-9); His willingness to stoop to serve mankind (John 13:1-5); His forgiving spirit (Lk. 23:32-34; and His power (Mk. 4:36-41; 2 : 1 - 12 ). Read the narrative prayerfully and with deliberation, asking the Holy Spirit to bless the Word. After each incident, emphasize to your hearers this fact : “God is like that” —for the Lord Jesus Christ is God. — S elected . II. T r u t h M ade A ccessible There is in Rome an elegant fresco by Guido, “The Aurora.” It covers a lofty ceiling. Looking up at it from the pave ment, you find that your neck grows stiff, your head dizzy, and the figures indistinct. You soon turn away. The owner of the palace has placed a broad mirror near the floor. You may now sit down before it as at a table, and at your leisure look into the mirror, and enjoy the fresco that is above you. There is no more weariness or dizziness. So God has brought otherwise inaccessible celestial truth to our world through Jesus Christ. In Him, as in a glass, we may behold the glory and truth and grace of God. He is Himself “the truth.” Like the mirror beneath “The Aurora,” Christ reflects the excellencies of God’s character. He and His Father are one. He did always those things that pleased God .—Sunday School Journal.

A very profitable plan for conducting a meeting on this week’s theme is to select

America’s Neglected Childhood 27,000,000 do not attend Sunday School (two out of th ree); 10,000,000 of the 13,000,000 in Sunday School are never evangelized. These are the tragic facts. The sin of their neglect is upon us, H is people. Matt. 18:6, 10-14. The Children’s Home Bible Class program is being used of God in a marvelous way to meet this need. It is organized in many cities, and must be extended nation-wide quickly . God has raised up “The Child Evangelism Fellowship ” in this crisis hour. - i ----------------------------------- An Appeal to the Lord’s People: Our great need just now is money to carry on this important work of evangelizing the childhood of America. We appeal to you, dear child of God, to help—and to do it now! THE CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP President—REV. PAUL W . ROOD , D.D., of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles Vice-President—REV. D. L.
