MPE MEMBERS NAMED TO TEACHER ADVISORY COUNCIL

MPE AWARDS NBCT SCHOLARSHIPS MPE awarded $475 scholarships this past August to the following members to support their pursuit of National Board Certification:

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) an - nounced the addition of 45 educators to the Mississippi Teacher Advisory Council (MTAC) in August. Congratula - tions to the following 17 MPE members who are among these 45 educators: Janiece Austin , Canton High School, Canton Public School District Elijah Beatty , Northwest Rankin High School, Rankin County School District Stacey Chapman , Houston Middle School, Chickasaw County School District Angel Chennault , Kosciusko High School, Kosciusko School District Amanda DeSantis , West Jones High School, Jones County School District Ann Etier , Northwest Rankin Middle School, Rankin County School District Jennifer Finley , Benndale Elementary School, George County School District Sarah Greer , Florence High School, Rankin County School District Emily Harris , Bentonia Gibbs Elementary School, Yazoo County School District Joycelyn Haygood-McDavid , Richland High School, Rankin County School District Katie Horn , Carver Elementary School, Meridian Public School District Rhonda Murphy-Johnson , Jackson Middle College, Jackson Public Schools Abigail Myers , Simpson Central School, Simpson County School District Thomas Richardson , The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science Julie Roberts , Clinton High School, Clinton Public School District Susanne Smith , Hamilton Attendance Center, Monroe County School District DeAnte Spann , Puckett Elementary School, Rankin County School District The MTAC provides feedback to Dr. Lance Evans, State Superintendent of Education, on the initiatives of the MDE, the Mississippi State Board of Education, and the Mississippi State Legislature. Formed in 2016, the MTAC now includes 195 educators, including 85 MPE members, representing schools throughout our state. MPE appreciates these 195 educators’ service to our state and their fellow educators!
