Doug Haubert, with 24 years of experience as a civil and criminal prosecutor, was elected Long Beach City Prosecutor in 2010 and re- elected in 2014, 2018, and 2022. As City Prosecutor, he initiated Long Beach’s Gang Prevention Strategy, praised as “the most effective and innovative gang strategy in use today” by then-Police Chief Jim McDonnell, and won a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. Haubert is also recognized nationally for court diversion and alternative sentencing programs, including the award-winning Long Beach Community Service Worker (CSW) program. He has developed programs to assist people experiencing homelessness, securing funding for the GUIDES app, which connects law enforcement with social services. This app received the 2024 American City and County Crown Communities Award. Haubert holds a B.A. in Political Science from U.C. Santa Barbara and a Juris Doctorate With Distinction from University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. He has served on various boards and commissions, including the California State Bar Public Law Executive Committee, Long Beach Public Library Foundation, and MADD Southern California.
