In 2008, Associate Prof. Dr. Mohamed Saat Ismail started approaching co-operative for the pur- pose of giving new ideas and suggestions. “No gain without pain” has became his tagline when he took up the role of COOPUSMA’s chairman. During his early years in the position, the co- operative was suffering from financial losses due to non-systematic governance. Under his lead- ership, the co-operative undergone strategic transformation and gradually emerged itself as the lead co-operative in Tourism, Personal Care and Health Sector.
