ERMANTOWN, MD — The Montgomery C o u n t y P l a n n i n g Board recently approved pre- liminary plans, submitted by Matan Companies , to transform their existing office park in Germantown into a vibrant, 24/7 mixed-use town center. The project site, currently known as Milestone Business Park, is located on Milestone Center Dr., just north of I-270 and west of Ridge Rd. The site will comprise 1,200,500 s/f of development, includ- ing 655,000 s/f of existing G

office space in four buildings, three new six-story mixed-use residential buildings with 485 apartment units, 28,250 s/f of new street-level retail space, and 3,161 total parking spaces. An existing, centrally located 63,000 s/f plaza will also be transformed to cre- ate an attractive gathering space for the project, and will feature an interactive water fountain, a kiosk, seat walls, lawn areas and more. Casey Anderson , planning board chairman, said he was impressed with the plans. “If you guys deliver a project that looks like this when it is done, then you are welcome to do this in the southern part of Montgomery County, the eastern part, the western part, or the central part - any part that you would like.” “It was really nice to see such a positive response to the project,” said Tracy Vargo , principal for Matan Compa- nies. “We are eager to see this project move forward.” n HARRISBURG, PA — A. P. Williams, Inc. an- nounced that John M. Mur- phy has joined the team as project manager and estimator. John has 26 years of expe- rience in the construction in- dustry. He will be involved in competitive bidding, concep- tual estimating, and value engineering. John is a LEED Accredited Professional, and member of Society of Amer- ican Value (SAVE) . John was previously VP of estimating with the Quan- del Construction Group , where he was involved in many high profile projects. n John Murphy joins A.P. Williams
